This week on the Bloom Where You’re Planted podcast we have a conversation with Chris Jones.

Chris is currently the Media Services Director for Christ's Community Church in Portsmouth, Oh. He has worked in Film (King of Ironton, Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies) Television (WQCW & WTZP) and Live Performance (High School Sports, Professional Wrestling, Church Services) behind the camera, as well as in the editing booth. 

In 2006 he started working camera for Professional Wrestling company RCW, and has since worked in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky for ASW, Remix Pro, IWA East Coast and several others. 

In 2009, Chris joined  WTZP television (The Zone) as their News Director/Editor/Camera Operator. He was involved in the production of commercial and promotional spots, as well as live sporting productions around the Scioto County area. 

Since 2015, Chris has been the media Director at Christ Community Church, where he currently oversees two live services weekly, as well as live streams and social media management.

This week on the Bloom Where You’re Planted podcast we sit down with Louisville, KY artist and author Jill Baker. 

Jill's paintings are of peaceful landscapes or fantastical imaginary places or things, created in her own style. She travels to New York, France, Italy, Southeast Asia or the Islands to paint and exhibit her work. She has exhibited her collages and oil paintings throughout the world in major venues in Paris (Palais des Congres), Florence (Palazzo Strozzi), Seoul, South Korea (U.S. Embassy), New York (Goethe Haus, among others) and elsewhere.

She also writes and has always used her writing to support her art financially during sparse times. She has published a novel, My Turn, and a short travel book entitled Elba Journal. She has written feature articles for newspapers and popular magazines, including articles on art, religion, the Olympics, homemaking topics and the military among other topics. Her book of poetry is called  Poems of Accord.

As an artist, Jill  has taught art on the university level for 17 years, and was on the staff of the Art Department at the University of Southern Indiana. She had done numerous illustrations for publishing houses and major magazines and has worked as an artist in Production for newspapers and for Institutional Investor magazine on Madison Avenue, in New York. She has illustrated several books, including a dozen by Lee Pennington

This week on the podcast we have a conversation with noted science fiction writer Arlan Andrews Sr. 

A former ASME White House Fellow in OSTP (White House Science Office), Arlan retired from Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque as Manager of the Advanced Manufacturing Initiatives Department. He then co-founded several high-tech companies, including a virtual reality software firm, and a biotech process company.

Arlan previously held positions at AT&T Bell Labs and White Sands Missile Range, NM. He recently retired from the position of Environmental Program Manager for the U.S. Navy at Corpus Christi, Texas. He has published over 400 fiction stories, speculative fact articles, computer books and opinion pieces in 90 venues worldwide, including the first White House endorsement of nanotechnology in 1993.
