We are joined on this episode by Judy Byerly. She and her husband Marty have been team driving since 2004. They bought a truck and leased it to Landstar in 2017. She shares their story of success and how they used a strong work ethic, and attitude of service, and a passion for networking to build relationships with customers and agents in the Landstar system.

We'll tell you all about how we overcame the problems, how we kept our drivers making money, and how we sent one truck to the salvage yard and brought another back from the dead.

We’ve spent the last few episodes talking about the influence the pandemic has had on the market. We decided to get '“back to basics” and discuss the principles that we use and implement that allow us to survive in a crisis market.

It's been 20 days since our last podcast. We've been busy keeping five trucks running during this pandemic. The market is down, but it isn't dead. We've had to work really hard to keep everyone loaded, but we have kept the trucks moving. We have found some silver linings and we talk about how we are optimistic for the future.

We're approaching 30 days into the crisis that has gripped the entire world. Markets are shut down and people are terrified to leave their homes. We talk about what we have seen in our own interactions with the market and what we think the future could hold. The Blue Ribbon Business Model is being proven in this time of uncertainty. No debt and low cost of operation positions us to still be here long after the crisis has passed. We now have five trucks operating and we just hired two new drivers last week. This is certainly a fascinating time to be in the trucking business.

Things have certainly escalated quickly since our last episode on March 13th. We break down the hysteria surrounding the actions of the state and media and how it has affected the trucking industry. For us, silence is not an option. We have watched the world lose its mind over the last couple days. Events are cancelled, markets have crashed, people are terrified. We have recently had a truck open up because a driver had a family medical issue at home and he could not be on the road any longer. We started going through applications we've received since we started doing the podcast. What we found are that people are asking a lot of the wrong questions.
