“I wonder what happened to Timmy.”
I wonder what ever happened to Timmy. I used to bring him one piece of peppermint candy to school because he had a tummy ache every time we had music class. People would make fun of Timmy because he claimed that the music teacher made him sick. Timmy would have nausea, headaches, and cry and sometimes turn red.
My grandfather used peppermint candy as medicine when I was a child. Sometimes he gave me one when I had a tummy ache and it seemed to make me feel better. Timmy suffered once a week in music class when he didn't get to go home from the clinic. He counted on me to bring him peppermint candy to music class.
Looking back, I know now exactly what was wrong with Timmy. Our music teacher wore strong cologne, smoked heavily and played a piano. His breath and clothes smelled terrible and Timmy was allergic to it. We each had to stand by the piano while our music teacher played it. My memories are filled with Timmy standing beside of that piano, feeling sick and eating that peppermint candy I gave him. His face and ears would turn red too! I always wondered exactly what was going through Timmy’s mind as he was enduring all of this pain and anguish at school.
When you are allergic to something, you will produce excess stomach acid in response to your mast cells producing histamine. I tell my patients in advance not to wear strong cologne out of respect for other patients, staff and myself.
When I think of Timmy, I wonder what happened to him and where he is now. I also hope and pray that he did not grow up having self-worth issues about the fact that he was sick a lot in music class.
Everything I use is unscented. I taught myself how to make soap, deodorant and shampoo, just for fun. People tell me I smell great, and I think it is because there are no or few chemicals involved.
We all have a natural wonderful scent when we are clean.
Most of all, I desire to keep a clean heart.
Is there someone that you have memories of as a child and wonder where they are or what happened to them?
