Make sure your weakest link is very strong.
Most people know that the weakest link has the ability to bring you down. This may apply to families, friends, businesses, schools, churches and many other entities. No matter what you are doing in your life, make sure that your weakest link is strong.
When I was in college, a group of my peers wanted to form a study group. I was reluctant about joining a group because I always seemed to study better on my own. When I studied on my own, there were less distractions and no one else to depend on.
Finally, I agreed to join the study group and for the first few weeks, it worked well for everyone concerned. The third week into the study group, there were two people, Adam and Charlotte, making things complicated. Adam and Charlotte were dating each other which made the situation even worse. There were days that they were very late to our meetings. It disrupted our thoughts and slowed us down. Other days, Adam and Charlotte would disagree about a topic and start arguing. They would yell and make rude comments back and forth to each other during our whole study session.
I decided that I had given this study group enough time and it was not working out for me. I did not want to spend the energy trying to keep Adam and Charlotte from being late or frequently arguing with each other.
I prayed about how I felt and was led to leave the group. Later on, I found out that Adam and Charlotte were kicked out of the group. This did not surprise me. As a couple, they seemed to have a hard time functioning together. As individuals, they seemed to be happier and more productive.
In my mind, there were three weak links regarding this study group. First, the study group as a whole was a weak link for me. Secondly, Adam and Charlotte were weak links for the study group. Thirdly, Adam and Charlotte seemed to be weak links to each other. They eventually broke up and went their separate ways.
Whenever a weak link is discovered in your personal or business life, you have to ask yourself a few questions and ultimately, make a decision. Do you leave the chain that contains the weak link? Do you remove the weak link that is in your chain? No matter which solution you choose, make sure that you have prayed about it for guidance. Your heart will know which resolution it should absorb.
Do you notice the weak links in your chain of life?
Psalm 62:1-2
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
