For a long time, Janey Larkin has traveled with her family from place to place, and that has been a good life. Her precious Blue Willow plate has taken the place of brothers and sisters, friends, dolls, and even pets for Janey. But here in this new place, Janey has found a real friend in sweet Lupe Romero, and she wants more than anything to be able to stay in the little shack as long as possible. Now that the ranch foreman, the shifty Bounce Reyburn, has collected rent from the Larkins, perhaps they can stay as long as they continue to have money to pay. Janey certainly hopes so!
