She is so happy when the doctor arrives to stay for a while. He is sad and despondent, but just being around Heidi helps him regain some joy in living. Heidi seems to have that effect on everyone! 

All too soon, the doctor’s visit must come to an end, but in the spring, perhaps he will return, and bring Clara and even Grandmama with him. In the meantime, Heidi is just so happy to be home with Grandfather in their cozy mountain hut.

Meanwhile, back in Frankfort, the Sesemann household is preparing for a journey, not for Clara, as she is not strong enough yet, but for the doctor, who is to visit Heidi and take love, greetings, and many packages for the residents of the little mountain meadow.
