EPISODE INFO.
In this episode, Lembit talks about his time as the Liberal Democrats spokesperson for Northern Ireland, and how at that time Sinn Féin laid out to him as to where they intended to take Northern Irish politics. Some 20 years later, he says that Sinn Féin have delivered on that plan and Northern Ireland is moving every closer to unification with the Republic of Ireland.
He contrasts this stated plan and strategic vision against the lack of voice and direction, in his view, Plaid Cymru and, as he refers to them, the nationalists in Cymru give to their cause of independence from the United Kingdom for Wales.
Lembit discuss why Reform UK are seemingly surging ahead across England and Wales; which he puts down to the fact they are populist movement. And, Lembit states that the main parties in Wales have sown their own destruction at the hands of Reform UK.
A long-time questioner climate change and the benefits of European governments targeting Net Zero objectives for their economies, Lembit delves into why he sees no reason to hold Wales' economy back in the name of a climate emergency which is entirely made up by vested interests.
This episode of Blueprint Cymru will, without doubt, give plenty of food for thought. Lembit is, as ever, certainly controversial in his views on the future of the UK and on Wales.
ABOUT LEMBIT ÖPIK
