She began her role with the chamber within the last year, but is no stranger to the area. This is a unique situation becuase rather than just one town it's a whole region. Actually the communities of McGregor and Marquette work very closely with their neighbor across the Mississippi of Prairie du Chien and are known collectively as the “Port of Discovery.”

MAQUOKETA is probably the only town in the world that is known by this name. The name was derived from the river, known by the Indians as maquaweutaw, and means in the Indian language “Bear River”.
