In this episode Tammy chatted to Marcella Leonard about maintaining a resilient mindset during the pandemic. They discuss: the resurfaced past trauma many of her professional clients are experiencing whilst working from home, the competing priorities for professionals that are impacting their resilience, and Marcella’s suggestions for how to cope with what seems like an endless pandemic.
Welcome to series 3 of the Training 4 Influence Podcast. This series, as requested by you, our listeners, will be focused on emotional resilience, how to build and maintain it, and why it’s so important for those working in the criminal justice, social care and charity sector.
Without emotional resilience frontline professionals are at risk from suffering from burnout, vicarious trauma and significant mental health issues - we’ll be sitting down with guests, in different job roles, to hear real stories of both avoiding burnout and rebuilding after it. Our aim is to share positive thoughts and ideas that will inspire, protect and motivate frontline professionals.
Marcella Leonard qualified as a social worker in 1989 and since then has specialised in assessment and treatment in the fields of sexuality, sexual deviancy and sexual trauma with both victims and perpetrators.
As Director of Leonard Consultancy, Marcella works internationally, as well as throughout the UK and Ireland, in delivering specialist training, consultancy, and strategic and programme development. She also has co-authored risk assessment models that are being used in New Zealand, Norway, the UK and are being introduced to many more countries.
She continues to provide therapy for victims of childhood trauma and is a psychosexual therapist specialising in enabling victims of sexual trauma to re-experience sexuality positively. And since the beginning of the pandemic, Marcella has been providing consultation for social workers and child protection professionals, while working with several large organisations on their safeguarding policies and procedures.
Training 4 Influence is a creative solution, a methodology that can transform any training session, weaving values led ‘golden threads’ that influence organisational outcomes throughout every training session.
Every training day is precious, sectors where case-loads are increasing, employees are burning out and every decision impacts lives, it's paramount that we upskill and positively influence outcomes at every opportunity.
