  • If the Lord Will
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

  • 21. Led by the Spirit
Q: What does true freedom from the law look like in the life of a believer? A: True freedom is not moral autonomy but life governed by the Holy Spirit, who breaks sin's dominion, leads believers in warfare against the flesh, and produces holiness through grace-driven effort.

  • The Gospel of the New Age Messiah
The sermon warns against false prophets and the dangerous allure of hyper-dispensationalism, which distorts biblical truth through conspiracy theories and works-based salvation. It emphasizes that the true gospel is a free message of grace for the poor, contrasting it with religious systems that demand financial payment or boastful adherence to rituals. The speaker argues that God allows deceptive signs and wonders to test humanity's loyalty, ultimately leading many to worship false gods or alien entities. Key passages like Deuteronomy 13 and 2 Thessalonians 2 illustrate the coming falling away and the revelation of the man of sin once divine mercy is withdrawn. The central message urges believers to reject these deceptions and cling solely to the unadulterated good tidings of Jesus Christ.

  • The Holy Confidence
An exposition of Jeremiah 9:23-24 in which God through the prophet forbids boasting in wisdom, might, and riches, and directs the only legitimate ground of human confidence: the knowledge and understanding of the Lord himself. The sermon sets this text within the surrounding context of Judah's desolation and unfaithfulness, showing that true wisdom, true strength, and true wealth are found solely in knowing the God who exercises lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. Main points: - the false grounds of human boasting — wisdom, might, and riches - the one true ground of confidence — understanding and knowing the Lord - the character of the God who is to be known — his lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness Scripture references: - Jeremiah 9:11-26 - 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Free Grace Baptist Church — https://www.freegrace.ca Full transcript & sermon notes: https://sermons.freegrace.ca/sermons/sermon-jeremiah-9-the-holy-confidence Description generated by Tyrannus.ai: https://www.tyrannus.ai

  • Branches and Blessings - Part 2
This sermon is the 2nd part of a multipart sermon which continues pastor Merson's series on Romans (the 45th sermon in that series). It explores Romans chapter 11 to clarify the theological relationship between Israel and Gentile believers, emphasizing that God has not rejected His covenant people. Using the metaphor of an olive tree, pastor Merson explains how Gentiles are grafted into the root of Abraham's promises by faith rather than merit, warning against spiritual pride or boasting over natural branches. The message highlights the historical distinction between Jews and Gentiles in worship while affirming that current blessings flow from God's grace alone. It addresses misconceptions about salvation security by contextualizing warnings within the specific audience of Gentiles rather than individual believers. Ultimately, the text points to a future restoration of Israel and the universal scope of God's redemptive plan for all nations.

  • In What Do We Boast
The sermon explores James chapter one, verses nine through eleven, redefining the concept of boasting as finding one's ultimate identity and joy in Christ rather than worldly status. It contrasts the lowly believer, who boasts in their eternal exaltation as heirs to all things, with the rich individual, who must recognize the temporary nature of earthly wealth and find humility in their spiritual need. The preacher emphasizes that both poverty and prosperity are fleeting compared to the permanent reality of salvation, urging listeners to shift their perspective from temporal circumstances to eternal truths. This theological framework serves to comfort believers facing hardship while warning against the idolatry of self-sufficiency for those who rely on material success. Ultimately, the message calls all individuals to find their security and identity solely in Jesus Christ.

  • Not of Him Who Wills
After showing how God chooses the outcomes for individuals and the outcomes for nations, Paul now reminds us of what happened on Mt. Sinai after the tablets of stone were broken as a picture that no one can be saved by the law. Moses went back up the mountain and asked God to show him His glory. God said that He would proclaim His name before Him, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." All of creation is about the glory of God and the greatest expression of the glory of God is how He rescues sinners from the just punishment for their sins. Because of the fall, we all died spiritually in Adam and live in the flesh unless God chooses to show compassion on us. Therefore, it is not of him who wills (for we would all would to continue in our sins) or him who runs (because we point our feet toward evil) but God who shows mercy so that no man can boast. God gets all of the glory and He will not allow it to be stolen by others.
