  • What is Money?
DEBATE ANNOUNCEMENT: This Saturday (03/18/23) at 6:00 PM, Dominic (alongside Open Theist Bo Hornick) is going to be debating “Does the Bible Teach the Future is Eternally Settled?” As he and Bo prep for the debate, we’re going back to a broadcast classic from the late great Bob Enyart discussing, money. What it is, where it comes from, and why it has value. Watch the debate on The Gospel Truth YouTube Channel by Clicking here! Definition of Money: In the 1990s here at Bob Enyart Live, I wrongly claimed that justice required a return to the gold standard, whereby currency was formerly backed by reserves of precious metals. Years ago you could return a $10 bill, also called a gold certificate, to a bank and receive a certain amount of gold. After studying and thinking about money for years, reading economic texts and reflecting on the Bible, asking questions of internationally renowned economists, I now know that the definition of money is not gold or silver (although they can be used as money). But money is more like a transferable IOU. Most accurately, money is the accounting of transferable incomplete transactions. That is what money actually is. You can see the rest of this at KGOV.com/money… * Post-show Note: You're invited to also see our KGOV Political Spectrums chart and program. Today’s Resource: You can enjoy one or two of Bob Enyart’s entertaining and insightful videos each month, mailed to you automatically, simply by subscribing to the BEL Monthly Topical Videos service! • Pro-Choice Ilana Goldman on BEL
    * One of Eight "Women to Watch:" according to the Washingtonian, Ilana Goldman, president of Women's Campaign Forum, is one of the most powerful women in Washington. Ms. Goldman advocates the "right" to kill a fetus. Bob Enyart asked Ms. Goldman a number of questions which she did not answer including "What is a fetus?" and "Is the fetus living?" Ms. Goldman argued for a right to terminate it, but insisted on avoiding a discussion about what "it" is. Ms. Goldman indicated there should be a right to kill "it" because there are strong emotions on both sides, and because many people want to kill "it." Ilana did not agree when Bob said that whatever the truth is --whether "it" is a baby or not-- should take precedence over emotion and opinion. Bob Enyart said to Ilana, "Abortion is wrong because it's a baby, it's always wrong to intentionally kill a baby," to which Ilana said that we should respect one another's views, to which Bob asked, Well, isn't it relevant whether or not the fetus is a baby, a question Ilana objected to. * Crucial Abortion Links: - kgov.com/abortion - kgov.com/focus-on-the-strategy - AmericanRTL.org/abortion-regulations * One Interesting Ilana Goldman/Bob Enyart Exchange:Bob Enyart - You're saying, "We realize some people think it's a baby and other people think it's not and we'd like both sides to respect one another." Well, the same argument was made with blacks and slavery. And people said, "Look, if you don't like slavery, don't own one." And so the question is not, "Do we respect one another?" The question is, "Is a black man a person? Is the Jew a person? Is the baby in the womb a person?" That's the question. Would you agree it's not that we should respect one another, it is what is the truth, what is the truth in this matter. That's what we should determine?Ilana Goldman - No, I wouldn't agree. I don't think that's the right analogy. [2 minutes and 55 seconds later...]Bob - Earlier you said, "the truth really shouldn't prevail, it's our own opinion."Ilana - No, that's not what I said and I don't want to have my words distorted.Bob - Okay, we have it on tape. We could replay it. * Abortion for Incest: When Bob presented the following to Ilana, she dismissed it: Abortion for incest is cruel. The abortion clinic covers up the crime of incest, and typically sends the victim back home to her rapist. Even worse, they often send her home with her rapist, the criminal who brought her to the clinic. Abortion for incest emboldens a criminal to rape his young relative, helps him escape being caught, tempts him to repeat his crime, and is not compassionate because it kills a baby and increases the woman's suffering. Personhood for the unborn helps people understand there are no hard cases when deciding to protect a baby. You don't kill a baby because her father is a criminal. Also, abortion clinics statewide refuse to comply with mandatory reporting laws for suspected child rape. The pro-life community brought audio taped evidence of that failure to Colorado's attorney general's office, and Republican John Suthers chooses to look the other way. Personhood will reduce crimes against women and children. Perhaps Ilana can post the above paragraph on her blog and respond. Post-show Note: Bob Enyart is coming to Indiana, Goshen in the evening of Jan. 29th and Indianapolis on Saturday January 31st, to present a brand new BEL Seminar titled Hermeneutics: Tools for Studying the Bible. Learn how to use sixteen different tools of interpretation as you study the Bible. And as importantly, Bob will discuss the principles involved for prioritizing these hermeneutics. Varying interpretations may result depending upon which tools a student employs to understand a passage, such as the First Mention Principle, Typological Analysis, or the Historical/Grammatical Method. Believers should become experts in right and wrong, and being proficient at reading God's Word is an invaluable advantage. The seminar attendees will learn about the different hermeneutics and how to decide which tool to use in which instance. You'll love it! To register and for more information, please call 1-800-8Enyart! Today's Resource: When you get Michael and Debi Pearl's best-selling short book, To Train Up a Child, for many years now, whenever anyone orders this book from BEL, we send with it an audio-taped message from Bob Enyart titled Tyrant Dad!

  • ThThurs: Ruth Pt. 7
    * Ruth: "Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled," that the world gained its oldest book of romance. Ruth's love story tells the world's love story. Ruth became King David's great-grandmother. And since Ruth is not a Jewish woman, but a Moabitess, her inclusion in Christ's genealogy (Mat. 1:5) raises interesting questions. Further, Ruth's mother-in-law, Rahab, had been a Canaanite prostitute. Skeptics dismiss the Bible as exclusionary and unforgiving. But students know the truth. The marriage proposal in this book, from a well-established Jewish man to a widowed Moabite woman, symbolizes God reaching out to fallen man. Boaz, a type of Christ, symbolizes Christ's role as man's redeemer. The Kinsman Redeemer perpetuates the name of the dead, raising up life where there was only death, an inheritance where there was none.  Available on MP3-CD or download.

  • Thomas Seyfried: Metabolic Cancer Theory Part II
*Weight Loss & Mitochondrial Health: RSR hosts Fred Williams & Doug McBurney invite Boston College professor of biology Thomas Seyfried, MD, Ph.D., to further discuss cancer prevention, mitochondrial health, and the side benefit of weight loss. *Targeting Tumor Cells: Dr. Seyfried hints at how therapeutic Ketosis may become a standard of care in cancer treatment, and why existing drugs that could be effective in concert with ketosis may not be favored in research for effective Cancer treatments. And Doug hints at why a “paleolithic primordial ancestry” is not necessary to trace humanity’s history of ketogenic diets. *Problems Solved, Problems Made: We’re living longer, but are we living healthier? Hear how western medicine, the scientific method and affluence have helped solve so many of the pathologies that killed us before but have led to new chronic diseases that should be addressed now that we should know better. *Science Advances “One Funeral at a Time”: Find out why the medical establishment’s cancer treatment “standard of care” (meaning irradiation and chemotherapy) may be inhibiting research into an alternative pathway for cancer treatment. And how solving the cancer epidemic will not be solved by the market, or the academic machine, but instead by love. Go to the Foundation for Metabolic Cancer, and be sure to check out the AFFORDABLE Summary of Dr. Seyfried’s book! Therapies if there is a cancer diagnosis in your family.

  • Should We Be Anti-Abortion Vigilantes? (Pt. 3)
    * What Factors Show Valid Civilian Use of Force: After the murder of abortionist George Tiller, Bob Enyart discusses questions twelve through eighteen from American RTL's Vigilantism Worksheet. Can you identify the factors that determine when a civilian's use of force is justified or unjustified? Where is the threshold between self defense and vigilantism? And you can enjoy the discussion as Bob talks through the preceding and following questions on the ARTL Vigilante Worksheet! Does the government have authority to use lethal force in more circumstances than do civilians? One pro-life activist addressing this question had been confused by the libertarian claim that government only has the authority that an individual has. Bob relates his conversation (with this wonderful but confused Christian leader) in which this activist acknowledged that a government does have the right to utilize military force, so then when Bob asked him if an individual has the authority to declare war, this libertarian-minded Christian couldn't offer an answer. Bob pressed the issue by illustrating that while the government has every right to arm itself with military might, it would be absurd to maintain that a neighbor also has the right to house surface to air missiles in his garage, or that the Mosque down the street has the right to build a nuclear weapon. Authority does not flow uphill, from kids to parents, or from people to the government, but authority flows downhill, from God through government to people, and from Him through parents to children (and even the kid can kick the cat off the couch). Today's ARTL worksheet questions also look at biblical history and at what point did God delegate the authority for human government and the death penalty? Also, aside from self defense from imminent harm, what tradeoffs would occur if God had delegated authority to the individual to overrule the government in matters of life and death? • Should We Be Anti-Abortion Vigilantes? (Pt. 2)
    * What Factors Show Valid Civilian Use of Force: After the murder of abortionist George Tiller, Bob Enyart discusses questions five through eleven from American RTL's Vigilantism Worksheet. Can you identify the factors that determine when a civilian's use of force is justified or unjustified? These ARTL questions look at the special function of imminence in identifying a just use of lethal force. You might want to print out ARTL's vigilante worksheet to follow along as Bob discusses these vital and timely principles. And you can enjoy the discussion as Bob talks through the preceding and following questions on the ARTL Vigilante Worksheet! * If you build it...: New York City is turning luxury Crown Heights condominiums into shelters for the homeless. The $300,000 condos come with granite countertops, terraces, marble bathrooms and walk-in closets. The developer signed a 10-year contract by which New York City is paying $2,700 monthly per apartment, provided the pampered residents get job counseling. ["I'll give 'em job counseling," says Enyart. "Get a job!"]. Says NYC's Department of Homeless Security, "There are a variety of ways to apply for DHS services!" Says Bob Enyart, "Let's all drop what we're doing, and go to New York and get a free luxury unit!" * You're Footing the Bill, Fred...: USA Today reports that the average U.S. household gets $17,000 in checks from the government (whoopee!) Oh wait. That also means that the average U.S. household has to: PAY $17,000 a year to the government, PLUS the hefty middleman fee that bureaucrats strong-arm from us, PLUS all the other costs of city, county, district, state, and federal government, PLUS the interest on the existing debts, PLUS the principle payments on those debts. (PLUS if there's anything left over, your own private expenses like rent and food, you selfish pig. But don't fear, if you have nothing left, go to NYC for a free luxury Crown Heights apartment!) Oh yes, and by the way, with benefit spending soaring to new heights over the last eight years, and now Obama's increase atop Gorge Bush's out-of-control socialist spending, immoral bailouts, and nationalizing of banks, one-sixth of the average American's income comes in a federal or state check, with government spending on benefits to top two trillion in 2009. So there!
