Many of us have been spending lots of time lately on video calls—from work meetings and online school to virtual game nights and family gatherings—and this is affecting how we feel about ourselves. Weight shaming and body dissatisfaction are at an all-time high as our routines are disrupted and we spend more time on social media—and, well, just looking at ourselves day in and day out.
Today on the show, we have a wide-ranging and inclusive conversation about body image, self-esteem, and self care during the pandemic with psychology researcher Helena Lewis-Smith.
Helena Lewis-Smith is an applied health psychology researcher at the University of West England Bristol, where she works as a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Appearance Research.
