WHAT DID YOU COME TO SEE?

Many people come to see Jesus and in this passage we see three types of people all coming to Jesus, which one are we?

PURPOSE IN THE PROCESS

It is easy for a process to become the end of everything and that is what the people had done and what Jesus is speaking to. He reminds us it isn't about having the perfect prayer rhythm, fasting habit, or keeping the Sabbath. These are all meant as gifts for man to be connected with Him!

WHO JESUS CHOOSES

It is oftentimes surprising to see who Jesus chooses, it is the opposite of who we would naturally think. But this is the beauty of the Kingdom of God is that those that are willing to be open, honest, and vulnerable to them the Kingdom will be available.

SUMMARY: We have all had those moments where we are questioned... what or who gives you the right or authority? We see Jesus in that same situation here and then we see how He shows that He is the ultimate authority.

We looked at what Jesus did in a 24 hour period... we will see what He did:

HE TAUGHT

HE HEALED

HE PRAYED

HE CLEANSED

All of these things are things we need in our own stories of redemption and are examples of what Jesus calls us to as His followers

Spiritual Warfare and Satan are not discussed enough in the church Graham Hitman comes to encourage those of us as believers that in Christ wea re free.

Sometimes we think the Spirit is calling us to pursue what is easy or what is comfortable but if we are following Jesus sometimes He calls us to the difficult places like the wilderness. Where there is isolation and temptation, its there where His work begins in us.

As we start the book of Mark we see that John the Baptist holds an important message but it was only meant to prepare the way for Jesus and to help correct where the path for the people of God had become crooked.

The only way we can have God be pleased with us is in the beauty of submitting to the Gospel of Jesus and not the gospel of sin management.

This week we had an opportunity to connect around a meal, sharing our lives, and praying for one another. Graham Hitman shared with the prompt for all of us.

This is the sermon from our Christmas Eve service where we celebrated that Light has Dawned.

SCRIPTURE: 

2 The people walking in darkness

have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of deep darkness

a light has dawned.

5 Every warrior’s boot used in battle

and every garment rolled in blood

will be destined for burning,

will be fuel for the fire.

6 For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the greatness of his government and peace

there will be no end.

He will reign on David’s throne

and over his kingdom,

establishing and upholding it

with justice and righteousness

from that time on and forever.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty

will accomplish this.
