In this episode we talked about how Lydia found her “ purpose work”  to help veterans with PTSD through listening to her heart cry in the aftermath of war and her own divorce. We got into how she keeps naysayers at bay and is kicking ass going through training in the Air Force Reserve while being in her mid-30s and a mom by using her fears and her age to her advantage. She also gave us some tips on focusing on the present and morning rituals that she’s learned from her military training.

Kathleen is a Conscious Connected Breathwork therapist nicknamed The Jedi of Calm and Queen of Serene. And after this episode you’ll understand why. Our talk began where it usually does, at the beginning. Back in the day Kathleen was on the hamster wheel of unhappiness & complacency and filled the void by faking the funk  bouncing from job to job, lack of income, piss poor relationships, etc.

I decided to do this episode to not only explain why New Year's resolutions are worthless and set you up to fail, but also how to really set and achieve goals that work for you.  We get into the process of identifying types of goals, your personal motivation, and the strategies you should use. I also talked about the perils of positive thinking, tools like mental contrasting &  implementation intentions, & the 4 "C"s of cultivating confidence.

In this week's episode we talk about the intersection of culture and confidence especially how Sheena is working to change the perception of Asian women. Sheena is a podcaster, author and entrepreneur and we talk about everything from "embracing the suck" of entrepreneurship to why it's her mission to help women find the confidence to succeed.

I truly loved this conversation with Emily. We really focused on her lifetime of service in the shadow of September 11th.  We get into how service changes your for the better, our gratitude for the great social experiment that is the United States, and the value of the “ village” as a support team and how that led to the creation of GORUCK, and how she is showing women the safe way to travel boldly and bravely around the world.

This is a short and sweet solo episode I did in honor of Thanksgiving and the diverse tribe of women that have been by my side over the years.
