This is our first ever bonus series, and we decided to kick it off with a case that polarized the country and still polarizes today—the case of Betty Broderick, a socialite housewife who shot her ex-husband and his new wife in their bed while sleeping.

Some sympathized with Betty because she sacrificed her early years in life so Dan, her husband, could attend medical school and law school in order to become a malpractice attorney. Both were ambitious and willing to make sacrifices for the future. It worked. Dan became a very successful lawyer and at the height of that success when Betty could finally enjoy the fruits of their partnership, he dumped her for a young twenty-something.
