The big story from the world of music in 1985 is unquestionably the Live Aid concerts that took place in London and Philadelphia on July 13th of that year. Featuring dozens of the biggest names in popular music the concerts drew crowds well in excess of 200,000 people. TV broadcasts around the world attracted an estimated 1.9 billion viewers in 150 countries who watched the concerts performed live. If accurate, this would equal nearly 40% of the world population at the time!
