William P. Barry served as NASA's Chief Historian for a decade. He's a 22 year veteran of the United States Airforce, where he flew KC-135 tankers and served on the faculty of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He also received his doctorate from the University of Oxford, writing his dissertation on the history of Soviet space exploration.
