When we look at our new lives, did we really change? Have we changed, or do we talk about change? What has changed? Honestly! Take a look around you. Do you still argue? Are you still “fighting everything and everyone” (including yourself)? Have you just put down the drink and drugs? Are you now more miserable than ever? Are you eating more? Smoking cigarettes again? Vaping this time? Cussing more (that’s me!)? This shit happens. Happens all the fucking time. People kid themselves about what they are actually doing in recovery. They hit a few meetings, make a few phone calls to that once-a-month sponsor they got, and think that is enough to change. Sadly, it is not enough, and we all know it. Your boss, your spouse, and your friends are likely waiting for you to fail while they grab the popcorn to watch you implode. It doesn’t have to be like this. It can be better. Stop bullshiting yourself and reach out again. No matter what we are going through, we all need extra help.

Try going without another vice (coffee, nicotine, sugar, etc.) for one day, or at least try cutting back on it for today.
