The definition of insanity you hear in recovery is that “insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.” It may be valid, but in many ways, we only talk about this state of insanity as it deals with our actions. We rarely talk about how it applies to our being. The way we think, feel, act, respond, etc. For example, how many times have you had the same argument with someone or felt resentful towards someone for similar reasons? And how the fuck is that working for you? You have to stop and ask yourself if that’s not insane. Because it fucking is. You will never break free from your way of thinking and acting with the same piece of broken equipment that caused all this insanity to begin with: your brain.
Reflections
If you can’t fix it, who can? How can you? What have others done to stop their insanity?
Daily Challenge
Go to a recovery meeting. Even if you don’t go to meetings. And just open your mouth about how fucking “insane” you feel. Then, depending on how you say it, the room will bust up, or every head will nod in agreement.
