March 2

Your ego is not your amigo. Maybe your ego worked for you as you were growing up, and it probably helped you get laid a few times as you tried to look like you had your shit together, but not now, not in this situation. Your ego is the enemy. We all have an ego that can be used as a healthy thing after becoming more balanced and aware of its place in our lives. But in recovery, the ego must be set aside and checked consistently. One way to check your ego is to have a purpose that has a higher calling other than serving yourself. So many people around you have a higher purpose, and you would hardly know it. They ask themselves each day when they get up, “Am I living for a higher purpose today? Am I working towards that today?” Some do this intentionally, and others do it instinctively, but they do it. You know who these people are. They seem happy, guided by an inner light, and always seem helpful, positive, and cheerful. Kinda makes you sick, doesn’t it?

Reflections

Do you have a purpose? What is it?

Daily Challenge

Get a tattoo of that higher purpose, or maybe a bumper sticker. But honor your higher purpose, somehow, that tells the world what you are about.
