The things that happen to other people are the same as those in recovery. Being sober does not give us immunity from life. If anything, it ultimately makes us responsible for it. So, it’s in your best interest to pay attention to how others in recovery handle their problems. When you have problems (such as financial, health, death, legal, job loss, etc.), that is life coming the fuck at you. That is life making you pay attention. If you attend meetings, listen to what others are going through and how they handle it. You might need to do the same soon. Our past has proven that drinking or drugging, on top of these issues, only makes them worse. But have you ever tried leaning into them? Have you ever tried “embracing the suck”?
Reflections
When things go wrong, do you turn and hide? Or are you the type of person that faces them? Really? Which one?
Daily Challenge
If you have an issue/problem today, read up on that topic as much as you can. Get educated about it. See if that helps. Search for that topic on SoberPod. Shameless plug.
