José Angel Contreras grew up on the south side of Milwaukee, WI. He is the son of a hardworking woman from Oaxaca, Mexico and a loving father from Jalisco, Mexico. Growing up on the south side of Milwaukee, José witnessed gangs, crime, and violence that led him to develop into a leader to protect and serve his community. His parents and three older siblings made sure he stayed on track by being strict at home. He was able to stay out of trouble and fulfill what came to be the beginning of his goals and dreams through higher education.

José graduated from St. Thomas More High School (2005), earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice (2009) from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) and returned to UWM to earn his Master's degree in Administrative Leadership, with a concentration in Adult and Continuing Education Leadership (2016). He continued to develop his skills in facilitating workshops, through public speaking, and coaching sessions to assist students and adults reach their personal and professional goals. Sisavath is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) practicing in anesthesiology. He is a graduate of University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He received his Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from University of New England in Portland, Maine.

Sisavath Douangsavanh is a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and author. He left his home country of Laos with his parents and siblings to escape the Vietnam War. He bounced around from refugee camps in Thailand and the Philippines before settling into Providence, Rhode Island. Growing up in the harsh city of Providence, Rhode Island, where Southeast Asians are not able to assimilate to American culture easily. He struggled throughout much of his life and often choosing the wrong path. It wasn’t until later in life that he realized what he was birthed on this earth to do.

Through his first book, he recounts of his difficulties of education and rocky upbringing. He shares how he overcomes these obstacles and was determined to beat the odds. He wrote this book to share with individuals that may not have similar situations but can relate to their own circumstances. Most importantly this book is for his family, nieces, nephews, cousins to show them by example that they too can do it!

Travis Wolfe was born in October of 1983 in Philadelphia, PA. Given away shortly after his birth, but reuniting with his mother a little over a year later, they were homeless until he was four years old. Both Travis’ parents were addicted to drugs and his father was also an abusive alcoholic. At age 8, Travis’ own family members placed him and his sisters in the foster care system.

While in foster homes, Travis was abused physically and mentally, beaten and starved. One of his great aunts got him and his sisters out of foster care in 1993, but placed Travis back in foster care in 1995 because of his misbehavior in school and at home. This time in the foster care system, Travis was again, abused. But at the age of eleven, he was also molested and raped by a 16 year old young man.

Abandoned at every turn, facing death multiple times and being arrested by the age of twenty, Travis’ life was on a downward spiral. He made the decision to implement the things Pastor Jeff taught him. He shed his victim’s mentality, developed a success consciousness and began pursuing his dream to become a police officer. Although, he was denied employment by police departments 14 different times, he never quit on his dream. Today, he is a Sergeant in the fourth largest Police Department in the country and owns his own company, WolfeMpowerment Group—specializing in empowerment, inspirational speaking, coaching and consulting. Travis stands firm in the belief that “when you become determined not to lose, that’s when you’ll WIN!”
