Working with these young adults inspired the author to create this book. One of her goals is to convey that it does not matter what your age is, you can cook and bake. The book not only reflects teens are in a league of their own in the kitchen arena, but can be used by any age person who wants to develop kitchen skills and be adventurous in creating their own recipes.

Students helped test and photograph each recipe in the book. This collaboration showed the author that the young cooks/bakers are capable of following the recipes, using kitchen tools and techniques, and developing their own methods in the kitchen.

The book is written using step-by-step instructions along with color photo of each recipe. This cookbook includes 200 kitchen tested and photographed recipes connecting with the upcoming generation and inspiring any age or level cook/baker to make future attempts in the kitchen arena.

Healthcare providers and the public had no education about how to conduct end of life grieving until 1969 when Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross published her experiences with hospice patients who were at the end of their life. She was a Swiss-American psychiatrist, a pioneer in near-death studies, and author of the internationally best-selling book, On Death and Dying (1969). In her book, Kübler-Ross discusses her theory of the five stages of grief, now known as the “Kübler-Ross model”. Since then, grief has been expanded into different areas other than end of life.

This book also describes the five stages of grief and adds two more stages. It also delves deeper into the emotions involved in the grieving  process as well as how an individual manages many grieving areas, such as death, divorce, job loss, etc. 

The book is written for anyone going through a grieving process. The author believes pain, suffering, and grief are inevitable, but how to cope and improve life is only done with experience and knowledge. 

This book is not just about grief. It includes other emotions that come into play. Forgiveness is also associated with grief. The book discusses the different types of forgiveness and how each one functions. Understanding the emotions involved with forgiveness helps relieve the pain of hostility and grudges a person may hold. 

Acceptance is the last stage in Kubler-Ross’s five stages of grief, but the author takes this a step further into social acceptance, which also plays a role in grief. He discusses acceptance by others, such as friends and family. He includes rejection by others, which can produce grief. He also discusses acceptance of others, such as people of other races, gender, etc. Rejection of others, such as being prejudiced, can lead to grief by the victims and others around them. 

The author states that he felt compelled to write about all the hatred, pain, and suffering causing grief around the world. He wrote with empathy for his patients who grieve. The book is written from a research perspective, but also contains the author’s personal experiences.

When Jean died at the age of eighty-four in 2004, her daughter, Sue Heringman, discovered an unusual legacy. Sue knew about her mother’s work in Afghanistan from when she would return to the UK and share her stories and show her slides and photographs. 

What Sue did not know was that Jean had kept detailed diaries of her life in Afghanistan and saved boxes and boxes of Afghan-related material. This material ranged from maps and tourist pamphlets, to rare eye-witness accounts together with photos of Mujahideen fighters, a collection of Afghan refugee children’s wartime drawings and several invaluable cassettes with spontaneous, on-the-street tape recordings from her travels around the country and in the refugee camps in Pakistan.

There was no question of what to do with it all once Sue read this sentence in a final diary entry: “I have a lifetime of memories and experiences during my years in Afghanistan and would deeply love seeing something rewarding from those days.The Keeper of Families: Jean Heringman Willacy’s Afghan Diaries is the compilation Sue made to chronicle those years, the most incongruous of her mother’s life. Pam Henry Smith was a fourth grade teacher who assigned her students a creative writing project. Their assignment was to write and create their own story. The story wasn’t written in one day. Rather the assignment took months to complete. Students would work on their story in class each day. Pam watched as students began to enjoy the process and even work together on their stories. An authentically wise understanding (ULR understanding of life and reality) is informed both about how and why to travel, and journey wisely. It is self-evident that truth and love matter to a life wisely lived, but it is not plainly evident whose explanation of life and reality (ELR) contains the very best explanation of constitutes enduring truth and authentic love. 

The God of the Bible said if left to ourselves, collectively you will be plagued by wars and rumors of wars, that famine and pestilent would plague your days. And you will in your intimate relationships as couples and families would find loving oneness much longed for but difficult to find and even more challengingly to sustain. 

Your much self-heralded humanly constructed ELRs, have not resulted in an enlightened, informed, progressively enriched existence but a reality persistently plagued by unity/chaos, clarity/confusion, peace/despair, and all life still finally ends in death. 

You were warned by the God of the Bible, you would come to suffer from a mind and heart condition similar to snow blindness termed reality blindness: better equipped to see analytically but yet persistently, congenitally spiritually blinded. Reality blindness is a congenital condition of humanity, a manifestation of being spiritually stillborn, if you elect to exist outside of a right standing with God. 

When all things are relative being equally true and false at the same time in the same relationship nothing is relevant: real gold is equal to fool’s gold, momentary lust and enduring love are equally valid emotional expressions. Humanly sourced understanding results in a form of mental, emotional hypothermia: reality began at your birth, all meaning is temporary, and in death you return to nothingness. 

In our various hypothermic states of existence, you numb your inevitable despair by self-medications found in drugs, sex, achievement, entertainment, etc. or some lash out with a coping strategy of hurting themselves or others. 

But wait! All is not lost. Your existence failure is not new nor unexpected nor unexplained. God created you with love hungry hearts only He can satisfy. God is both the great physician and ultimate parent who can both heal you spiritual today and gift you with an eternal relationship for all of your tomorrows including a post-physical-death forever home. 

But you have to respond with a yes and to His offer of the Live Wise Solution: forgiveness and adoption. As directed by God, Live Wise is a Jesus sourced how-to guidebook for facing life and reality’s complexities and messiness with the singularly valuable wisdom and love of God only found in God’s ELRs: Jesus and the Bible. The book is theinside story of the invention of an industrial product that became an American icon.  It takes place in the 1960-70’s at a small, privately owned company, Sandford Ink Company, located in Bellwood, Illinois. When the author interviewed for the job, Keith Beal, the Research and Development Director, gave him a tour of the manufacturing area. Beal made it a point to stop at a small table. At the table were three or four assemblers manually placing Sharpie pen “reservoirs” into Sharpie “barrels”, fitting the “ferrule” (top half of the pen) into place, spin welding the assembly, adding the ink with a foot-operated syringe, setting the tip and cap in place, and then placing the finished marker in a box that was partitioned to hold twelve rows of twelve—one gross of product. “This,” Keith told me, “Is the Sharpie Marker.” 

All the author wanted when he interviewed for the job of chemist at Sanford Ink Company was a way to support his young family. He would worry about making his mark in the world after his family had a place to sleep, a used car to drive, and food in the refrigerator. Furniture for the apartment could come later.

An ambulance was on its way to pick up a very sick patient when… suddenly out of nowhere a cat runs across the road in front of the speeding ambulance! The driver hits the brakes but unfortunately hit the cat! Thinking quickly, the paramedic jumped out of the ambulance, bundled the cat into the ambulance, and raced to the nearest vet clinic. Will his life be saved?

The anonymous cat was transported by ambulance to the vet clinic. He undergoes veterinary treatment and surgery. He recovers and finds a wonderful new home with the paramedic. 

When the author finished telling the story, she was very surprised by the  reactions of the children. They had all sorts of questions about the procedures used to save the life of the cat, now named St. John by the veterinary staff. They wanted to know how you could become a veterinarian. They were so interested and curious, they inspired the author to write the beautifully illustrated book. Her hope is that by sharing the story of ST. JOHN THE AMBULANCE CAT, young readers will take away three messages:
