Kay E. Thomson, author of the faith-filled books Finding Joy in the Midst of Grief and Oh No, Where Did He Go?, discusses her powerful stories of loss, love, and healing with Logan Crawford on Spotlight. The books guide readers through emotional valleys by showing how God's grace and faith can restore hope after the darkest moments.Thomson's inspiration for Finding Joy in the Midst of Grief was the loss of her husband of 44 years. She wrote the book to share the message that "there is always hope," emphasizing her strong Christian faith as the only way she got through the darkest time of her life. Her first husband, Dale, suffered from Parkinson's disease and stage four colon cancer. When he passed away in 2008, a group at her church suggested she turn her email updates about his illness into a book, which she did.The second book, Oh No, Where Did He Go?, is for children dealing with loss and was prompted by an experience with her grandson, Jensen, who was confused about where his grandfather was after the burial of his ashes. The book aims to help children and their parents or teachers deal with the emotions of grief. Thomson also teaches a grief recovery class, advising those struggling with grief to remember that "God just waits for us to come and find him" and to reach out for help.
