This week I had the pleasure of speaking with my long time friend, Carol Howard. We discussed what goes into planning large-scale events & some of her funniest memories of being behind the scenes. Here is a little more background on Carol:
Carol Howard’s fundraisers have netted more than $18 million for Indianapolis organizations in the last decade. Carol’s passion is helping organizations, including the IU Health Foundation, the Indianapolis Zoo and other local nonprofits, raise the funding they need to succeed at their missions. Her events come together seamlessly because she is uniquely able to create fruitful partnerships between businesses, organizations and the volunteers and guests who return to her parties over and over.
Carol honed her skills in sports marketing, working with some of the most well-respected race teams and the world’s best race car drivers. Now, she’s putting those skills to use planning Rev, the premiere charity gala that kicks off the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 3,000-person fundraiser, now in its seventh year, has earned a reputation as the must-attend event of the year in Indianapolis, as well as national media attention in ESPN magazine, NBC’s Kentucky Derby broadcast and Associations Now.
Carol’s other recent projects included planning and managing a press conference and trailer premiere for the “Ford vs. Ferrari” movie, attended by Academy Award-winning actors Matt Damon and Christian Bale, in May 2019 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She also directed the Universal Studios UK Movie Premiere “Born Racer” held at Indianapolis State Museum in September 2018. Carol directed the Premiere and coordinated the pre event cocktail reception, red carpet, and photo opportunities with Universal Studios.
