Boomer & Gio are back this morning and Boomer is disappointed the Mets dropped two straight heading into the All Star break. The Yankees also blew their game against the Cubs yesterday as Aaron Boone took Domingo German after the game after giving up 1 hit in 6 innings. The Yankees did fire their hitting coach, the first in-season firing of a coach or manager in Brian Cashman’s Yankees career. Boomer explains that a hitting coach can change the approach of the players. Gio doesn’t see the point of a hitting coach. As we sit here at the all Star break, we have two mediocre baseball teams. Boomer said that Aaron Judge will make a go of it after the All Star break. Boomer has talked to a number of people about this including the ‘head toe guy’. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update but first Boomer talks more about Judge’s toe injury. Boomer said it probably feels like when people have gout. Boomer said if he comes back this season he is not going to be the same player. C-Lo starts with sounds from the Mets loss to the Padres thanks to Max Scherzer giving up 2 HRs to Manny Machado. Scherzer said he has to pitch better. Tommy Pham left yesterday’s game with groin soreness. Boomer doesn’t think the Mets will be sellers and will do everything they can to grab a Wild Card. Gleyber Torres booted a potential double play ball. Brian Cashman talked about firing the hitting coach, Dillon Lawson. RB Dalvin Cook remains unsigned and keeps getting linked to the Jets. Boomer thinks Dalvin Cook wants to play in Miami and they are using the Jets to get more money from the Dolphins. The Jets will not get into a bidding war for Cook. He has a $7 million offer from the Vikings but he doesn’t seem to want to play there. It does not look like the Jets are going to get him. Jets are simply being leveraged here. Gio met a woman over the weekend who said her husband canceled their cruise for January because he assumes the Jets will be in the playoffs. A caller wants to know if Boomer went to Michael Rubin’s ‘White Party’. He was not. C-Lo returns for an update but first Gio said Highland Falls, NY is experiencing crazy flooding from storms. The Mets lost to the Padres as Joe Musgrove shut them down. Max Scherzer gave up 5 more runs as Manny Machado hit 2 HRs off him. Domingo German was pulled after giving up only 1 hit in 6 innings and the bullpen gave it away. Gio doesn’t want C-Lo playing Aaron Boone. In the final segment of the hour, Gio went to see Luke Bryan and got to hangout with him backstage. Gio was going through his snacks and telling him which ones had bad ingredients. Dua Lipa is Gio’s ‘hall pass’ and Morgan Wallen is his wife Gina’s ‘hall pass’. Gio thinks he has a better shot at Dua Lipa than his wife has at Morgan Wallen.
