Boomer is out again so Jerry is back with Gio. We get some playoff Knicks and Nets basketball this weekend. The Knicks have a good chance to beat the Cavs according to Jerry. The Nets play the Sixers and nobody is really giving them a great chance to win it. What are the fans expectations for the Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders and Devils? Jerry thinks Julius Randle will be playing on Saturday. C-Lo is in for Jerry but first Gio tells us his Eddie Murphy ‘Raw’ leather jacket arrived, but the pants did not. And it doesn’t fit. C-Lo starts with the Yankees giving up 9 runs in the top of the first inning. Jhony Brito gave up 7 of those runs and did not make it out of the first. Anthony Rizzo hit 2 HRs, not that it matters. C-Lo has audio from overnight host Pat Boyle who thinks Kodai Senga will pitch well in Oakland since it’s closer to Japan. C-Lo went around the NHL for the locals last night. In the final segment of the hour, Gio got his bike tuned up for the upcoming bike tour.
Javier Baez lost track of how many outs there were and he was doubled up. Tigers Manager AJ Hinch benched him because of that. We then got into a back and forth between owners and players and who deserves to make more money. We also talked about salaries and revenue and TV ratings for the various sports. C-Lo returns for another update and starts with the Yankees getting crushed by the Twins. It was 9-0 in the first inning and it confused John Sterling as to what day it was. We talked about bad concerts we’ve been to. Aaron Judge was a guest with Meredith on YES and she jinxed his on base streak. Anthony Rizzo loved seeing IKF pitching in the 9th. C-Lo has audio of AJ Hinch on benching Javier Baez for not knowing how many outs there were. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Springsteen playing at Prudential Center tonight. Chris Russo used to analyze the setlists at WFAN.
If you could go to one of the local playoff series, which would it be? Jerry wants in on Rangers/Devils. Gio thinks Rangers/Devils at the Garden for Rangers to clinch would be the best atmosphere. Dan in Carteret checks in about a feel good playoff Friday. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the Yankees losing to the Twins after giving up 9 runs in the top of the first. We previewed the upcoming Rangers/Devils series. In the final segment of the hour, Gio is hyper focused on the weather forecast for the bike tour and the Morgan Wallen concert. A caller brought his 7 year old son to his first Yankees game last night and he learned a lot of curse words.
We get playoff Knicks and Nets basketball starting tomorrow and then hockey gets going in a few days. We have been talking about these playoff games for a week now. Worst case scenario for the Knicks is they lose because Donovan Mitchell comes into MSG and dominates them. Gio has no interest in going back into NYC on a sixth day to see a Knicks playoff game. C-Lo returns for his final update of the day and starts with Jhony Brito having a brutal start last night for the Yankees. They were down 9-0 in the first inning. Jim Nantz was on with Jimmy Traina and talked about the rumors he doesn’t get along with Tony Romo. Gio has audio from the Devils and Gio loves their broadcast team of Matt Loughlin and Chico Resch. In the final segment of the show, if Mike Francesa needs a liver there will be a line out the door.
