The Mets beat the Marlins and Tommy Pham hit his first HR as a Met. Kodai Senga settled down after a rough first inning for the win. The Knicks beat the Wizards last night and clinched a playoff spot. Gio wonders why there isn’t a champagne celebration for the Knicks clinching the five seed. Baseball does it for everything. Obi Toppen says they still have a lot of work to do heading into the playoffs. The Nets won again, making it three straight. And the Rangers beat the Capitals 5-2. There’s some controversy in women’s NCAA basketball as Angel Reese taunts Caitlyn Clark. And ‘the Butler did it’ for San Diego State as they head to the National Championship Game.

Hour 4:

Gio gives the info on winning the last tickets to the live show. He goes through the audio that Eddie chose for the clues getting ready for today. We discuss Jalen Carter of the Georgia Bulldogs who was charged with reckless driving and racing in a deadly crash. He got 12 months probation. The discussion regards the upcoming draft and who’ll take him. We talk about the Jets not messing around right now and going for it with Rodgers. A caller doesn’t get a chance to pose with the Carton dummy at the Hard Rock. The final clue for tickets airs - “We did have rough sex,” for you keeping score at home. Jerry’s last update of the morning Mets and Yankees both win. The weather for the weekend gets discussed as does the live show, Anthony Gallo, office bathrooms and Gio’s and Al’s issue with Boomer being in there. Tigers/Rays was the shortest game of the day. Blue Jays/Cardinals was longest. More about the Devils beating the Rangers. Knicks/Cavs tonight and Nets/Hawks. In the final segment, Gio talks about the Sayville Biggest Loser and how he’s getting some help to, um, empty out. Apparently it’s very competitive to win the bragging rights. Gio touches upon the swinging community out there. He’s also very involved in the social aspects of life in his town.

Chris McMonigle was quite excited after the Yankees win and made a faux pas when saying the word “clock”.

Hour 3:

Is winning the division even important anymore in baseball? Maybe it’s better to just be there at the end playing your best. Gio doesn’t want to pay attention to what Jacob deGrom is doing. What is Shohei Ohtani’s future in California? Is a trade coming this year? Ohtani might want to stay on the west coast. However, a trade might mean it being difficult to sign him because the P.A. will want to bust records with the amount of money he gets. A caller asks whether the pitch clock will cause more injuries for pitchers who have to go fast. Another caller is very negative about the Knicks after the Randle injury. Charlie M calls in and prompts talk of the scene in the movie Casino. Jerry’s back with Jeff McNeil’s contributions to the Mets victory. Nimmo on being ready to play. Max Scherzer likes the faster pace of the game but not the clock. Yankees win with a broken bat single from Judge. Aaron Boone makes odd sounds. Wayne Randazzo pbp of a Renfro catch. Travis Kelce can’t remember the name of the Bengals head coach. The winning call from the Devils game as well as post game clips. Around the NBA including Giannis after the Celtics destroyed the Bucks. In the final segment, Mayor Eric Adams was in the YES booth yesterday and called Yankee Stadium “Yankee Park”. Gio is very critical. Boomer gives him a pass.

Hour 2:

Gio isn’t really worried about the Verlander injury at this point in the season. It’s a lot more serious that Julius Randle is out for the Knicks. The positive is that Jalen Brunson is there and other players will get a chance to step up and do it including Obi Toppin who can prove himself for real. A caller rudely checks in to say it wasn’t so bad at Yankees Stadium and then how he enjoyed going over to see the Devils beat the Rangers. The always nice Diane calls us to say that she’ll miss hearing Sweeny Murti for the post game but wishes Justin Shackil well. A caller is worried that hitters will catch up with David Robertson’s pitches. Jerry is in and talks about how starting pitchers make too much money and that hurts in other areas. Brian Rascona disagrees. Audio of Buck Showalter talking about the Mets bullpen. A bit of a childish sidetrack about “loads”. The odd delay violation against Pete Alonso mentioned. A cut of the Gleyber Torres homerun and some audio issues for John Sterling. Aaron Boone on the victory. Judge on YES about his homerun. A clip from Chris McMonigle on the air excited about the Yankees win and with a faux pas on the air. Around the MLB with the scores. The Devils over the Rangers played again which of course tweaks Boomer. NBA scores as well. In the final segment, Gio pops on a Devils jersey because his other shirt had a stain (he says). Boomer is annoyed. A caller is concerned that the Rangers can’t overcome low-scoring games. Boomer is bullish on the Rangers. Another caller claims Al Dukes is a shadow-banner and wants justice.

Hour 1

A good Friday as both the Yankees and Mets had successful opening days despite Max Scherzer’s blow up in the 6th inning. Boomer is frustrated about the Rangers losing to the Devils and how they get overwhelmed early and didn’t have enough shots. Gio is positive that Justin Verlander’s injury isn’t serious at this juncture of the season as long as he and Scherzer are good in September. The Yankees had a great start as did Aaron Judge in his first at bat. A storybook start for the team and their fans. We talked about the rules changes and how a speeded up game makes the fans pay attention. Baseball the way it used to be back in the day. They also praise Steve Cohen for joining the fans in the stands in Miami. Jerry has audio from the Mets win including from Brandon Nimmo, Buck Showalter, Max Scherzer and David Robertson. There’s play-by-play of the moment that Ron Darling jinxes Scherzer. Justin Verlander on not being worried about being on the I.L.
