Boomer & Gio

The sports radio new year kicks off with Year 20 for Boomer as we gear up for NFL kickoff and Aaron Judge's return to the Yankees lineup. We break down the Rams and Niners heading to Australia, the Giants' receiver situation around Malik Nabers, and why Week 1 against the Titans is crucial for the Jets. Plus, we debate Geno Smith versus Jaxson Dart's lineup, react to soundbites from Mike Tomlin, Robert Saleh, and Sean McVay, and dissect the controversial finish to the Western Michigan/Michigan game.

The sports radio new year kicks off with Year 20 for Boomer in the morning! We start with Aaron Judge’s return tonight for the Yankees' final stretch, then dive into football's return tomorrow and how the Rams and Niners are prepping for Australia. Jerry arrives for his first update following an Australian weather report, before we hear Robert Saleh on the Jets and Frank Reich, Aaron Rodgers hinting at future family plans, and Josh Donaldson’s shock over Aaron Boone’s podcast appearances. Plus, we wrap up with big highlight calls from AJ Ewing and Kyle Schwarber, and Boomer calling out a controversial finish in the Western Michigan/Michigan game.

We question why the Giants released Darius Slayton with Malik Nabers' Week 1 status in doubt, before debating whether Geno Smith or Jaxson Dart has better surrounding talent—and why Dart must be a top-15 quarterback this season. After questioning the logic of Nabers sitting Week 1 only to play Week 2, Gio wonders if Boomer could fight off an alligator, then highlights the Nathan Fielder/Elizabeth Holmes documentary trailer ahead of Jerry’s update. Plus, Sean McVay and a time-zone-confused Kyle Shanahan react to their Australia trip, Michael Irvin defends Jed York, Aaron Judge returns against the Rockies, and Al fumes over Rami showing up with a stomach virus.

Gio prefers media member Mike Tomlin over head coach Tomlin for actually answering questions—including which quarterback he'd love to coach—before Boomer quizzes Al on Rob Saleh’s Tennessee predecessor. Jerry’s update features Tomlin’s advice to Mike Macdonald on post-Super Bowl seasons, plus reactions from Sam Darnold on the Patriots, Davante Adams on Australia, Bart Scott on the Jets, Rob Saleh on facing the Jets defense, Brian Schottenheimer on Jaxson Dart, Bill Belichick on Mike Lombardi, and Mike Pereira on the Western Michigan finish. Finally, Gio hypes up football season despite zero interest in Patriots-Seahawks, and wonders if you've ever seen a coyote after a sighting in Nassau County.

We stress why the Jets must win Week 1 against the Titans before looking at the Giants' early matchups with the Cowboys and Rams. Callers question the NFL sending a division game to Australia and spot Boomer playing Family Feud, leading into more talk on Long Island coyotes. Jerry's final update features Drake Maye on facing the Seahawks, AJ Brown on being a Patriot, Sean McDermott on John Harbaugh's Giants tenure, a game of "What is Shannon Sharpe referring to?", and leaked audio of Lane Kiffin going wild at halftime. Finally, after a Moment of the Day covering Aaron Rodgers, Shaun Morash, and better sex, Gio closes the show with his Morash and McVay impressions.

Jerry returns with Drake Maye on playing the Seahawks again. AJ Brown is still in awe to be a Patriot. Sean McDermott talked about John Harbaugh’s time so far with the Giants.Lane Kiffin going nuts during halftime after someone recorded him in the locker room. The Moment of The Day: Aaron Rodgers, Shaun Morash & better sex.

It’s important for the Jets to get a win in week one as the Titans will be one of the weakest teams on their schedule. The Giants face the Cowboys and then the Rams. A caller wondered why the NFL sent a division game to Australia.

Jerry's back with Mike Tomlin’s message for Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald on the season after winning a Super Bowl. Sam Darnold as he broke down the Patriots. Davante Adams talked about playing in Australia. Bart Scott about what he expects from the Jets this season. Rob Saleh on the Jets defense he’ll be facing. Brian Schottenheimer about facing Jaxson Dart. We heard from Bill Belichick as he was asked a lot of questions about Mike Lombardi. Mike Pereira talked about the ending of Western Michigan/Michigan.

Gio also likes the more open Mike Tomlin over the coach version.

We heard from Sean McVay on the trip to Australia. Kyle Shanahan is very confused by the time change in Australia. Michael Irvin defended Jed York getting caught with a ‘sex worker’. Aaron Judge returns to the lineup tonight against the Rockies.
