Boomer & Gio

With CBS indefinitely suspending Tony Romo and naming JJ Watt as his replacement, the guys wonder if influential NFL power player Jerry Jones will step in to ask CBS to give Romo another chance. C-Lo returns for his final update of the day right after a quick chat about cottage cheese, leading into sounds from Mookie Wilson on clutch moments with the '86 Mets and Tarik Skubal on being traded to the Dodgers. The crew then breaks down Pete Crow-Armstrong's podcast claim that Babe Ruth never existed, debates whether shampoo is necessary over a plain bar of soap, and highlights the Moment of the Day featuring Joe Benigno waking Gio up in tighty whities. To close out the show, they explore what happens if the Phillies flame out this season, focusing on the dynamic between Bryce Harper, Don Mattingly, and the front office.

CBS has suspended Tony Romo indefinitely and already named JJ Watt as his replacement. We wonder if Jerry Jones will give CBS a call to help him out.

Gio tells us the time Joe B woke him up in a hotel wearing just tighty whities. Then Jerry brings up a story about human gas being passed and then that becomes a topic.

The noise in the halls around WFAN is getting a bit much. You can even hear the drilling over the studio mics. Also, some disturbed man, naked, jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge and lived. So there's that, too.

C-Lo back with more of the Yankees beating the Cubs & the Mets doing what they do. Austin Wells talked about his tribute to Thurman Munson as it was the 47th anniversary of his death. We listened to the Joe Buck radio call of Mookie/Buckner and he sounded annoyed that the Mets won to force a game seven.

Gio loves seeing the ‘86 Mets, but not in the midst of a horrendous year. Jerry loved the video they showed looking back on that season.

C-Lo's first update of the day includes the Yankees beating the Cubs and Gerrit Cole talking about the wind affecting pitching. Aaron Boone was asked about Garcia Jr and said, ‘he rakes’. We talked about the ‘86 Mets who were in town and which guys looked good and which guys didn’t. We heard from Tarik Skubal about leaving Detroit.

Trades, trades and more trades. Yanks get Garcia, Jr. Mets hand Peralta to Rays. Dodgers keep dodgering.

Craig Carton and Chris McMonigle debate over the potential impact John Harbaugh will have on the Giants. Plus, reaction to Malik Nabers starting camp completely off the PUP list (23:55); Evan Roberts, Tiki Barber, and Shaun Morash on if it’s playoffs or bust for the Giants (32:30); Evan argues the Giants should sign Vita Vea (50:03)

Tiki Barber is already putting Geno Smith on notice, declaring that Cade Klubnik should get the QB1 if he outplays the veteran in training camp and the preseason. Plus, Evan and Tiki can already see the Jets' use of AI going hilariously wrong. Boomer and Gio wonder if Aaron Glenn's job is tied to how Geno performs this season, and The Carton Show reacts to Plaxico Burress comparing playing for the Jets to being in prison.
