Welcome to the start of year 7 for Boomer & Gio. A lot happened while we were gone but we started with the Knicks trade for OG Anunoby. Boomer & Gio both love the trade. Boomer loved the energy and they beat the best team in the West. The NFL crushed the NBA on Christmas day. Gio’s dream scenarios for the Super Bowl have taken a hit over the last two weeks. The Bills could win the East and be the second seed with a win Sunday night against the Dolphins. Maggie & Perloff got Boomer a Christmas card and cookies and Gio got nothing. Gio said that’s a ‘suck up spot’. Michael Penix, next Giants quarterback? Jerry is here for his first update and starts with the Knicks beating the Timberwolves. Julius Randle had 39 points. The Rose Bowl went to OT and Michigan beat Alabama 27-20. The Sugar Bowl had over 1,000 yards of offense between Washington and Texas. Mike Tomlin is keeping Mason Rudolph as the starter. Will the Ravens play Lamar Jackson this week? The game means nothing to them, but they also have a bye so that would be 2 weeks of him not playing. The Dolphins lost Bradley Chubb to a torn ACL in a game where they were getting blown out. Dan Campbell has ‘controlled fury’ and is ready to go after the controversial ending of the Cowboys game. In the final segment of the hour, Gio thinks January 2nd is the worst day of the year. The holidays are over and we are looking at the three worst weather months. Everyone feels bad about themselves and everyone wants to change their life. Gio said July 4th is the best day of the year. Boomer went to the balloon museum during the break.
Dan Campbell admitted that the Lions were trying to confuse the Cowboys as to who the eligible receivers were. They ended up confusing the referees, which is easy to do. We have been complaining about the officiating but nothing is ever really done about it. Gio wonders who in the hell would want to be an official? We also talked about Lance Easley, the replacement referee who Boomer thought committed suicide. He did not. In fact, he’s still alive. Jerry returns for an update and starts with a clip from Rece Davis on College Gameday, ‘Let A Naysayer Know’. Um, not exactly. Michigan beat Alabama in OT to win the Rose Bowl. John Harbaugh isn’t sure yet about Lamar Jackson playing this week. Dan Campbell will not blame the loss on the referees. Mike McDaniel talked about Bradley Chubb’s injury and why he was on the field. In the final segment of the hour, a Japanese airliner may have had a mid-air collision, then caught fire on the runway. Amazingly, they got all the passengers out. The Epstein list is going to come out soon. We talked more about the referees getting things wrong this year in the NFL. We specifically talked about the 2 point conversion in the Lions/Cowboys game.
Gio updates the breaking news story about the Japanese airline that was involved in a collision with a Coast Guard jet. The Jets are officially running it back with Rob Saleh as Head Coach and Joe Douglas as GM with Aaron Rodgers at QB. Gio said it feels like Saleh is just waiting for the season to be over and just stands there doing nothing. Boomer said a lot of players are making business decisions in not wanting to get hurt. Sauce Gardner is one of them. Gio said the Jets don’t even seem like they’re trying at all. The coaches and the players. The Bears are getting the number one pick in the draft. Right now, Washington would be second and New England would be third. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer tells us about some baseball awards. We wonder what baseball writers would be fun to hang out and have drinks with. Jerry has audio of Mike McCarthy about the upcoming game against Washington. If Dallas wins, they win the NFC East. Angelo Cataldi thinks the Eagles' problem is Nick Sirianni. Boomer said the Eagles’ biggest problem is their defense. Michigan beat Alabama in OT to win the Rose Bowl. We played audio of Tony Paige having a problem with a jazz saxophonist guest. In the final segment of the hour, what is the future of the Giants and the upcoming draft pick. Michael Penix could be available for the Giants. Boomer doesn’t see them taking a QB with their first pick.
We talked about college quarterbacks and the NFL. Are they going to be all in? Do they have the body type that has been successful in the NFL? Panthers owner David Tepper threw a drink on a fan. Nobody has said anything about it yet. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the CBS New Year’s from Nashville. Elle King lost over 100 lbs and performed as did Jelly Roll. Jerry has no idea who Jelly Roll is. We played a song and he still had no idea. Jerry has audio of Rece Davis on College Gameday talking about ‘Let A Naysayer Know’. Um, not exactly. The Knicks beat the Timberwolves as Julius Randle had 39 points. Dan Campbell talked about the loss against the Cowboys and called it a blessing in disguise. The Moment of The Day involves Boomer shutting down Eddie’s college football point. In the final segment of the show, we talked about the benching of Russell Wilson. Where will he end up and who will be the quarterback for the Broncos next year? Boomer called it a ‘huge slap in the face’ to Wilson, to make him dress as the backup. What about Kirk Cousins to the Broncos? Boomer doesn’t think the Broncos will have the money for that.
