Zach Wilson played his best half as a Jet in the second half yesterday in their win over the Texans. Boomer said Zach played with a chip on his shoulder. Gio said the Jets negative avalanche stopped yesterday. Boomer said a reputable reporter in Utah said Zach’s already been told he’s being traded in the offseason. Phil Simms thinks he’ll end up in KC. The Jets offense in the first half was boring but they opened it up in the second half. Brock Purdy played a great game again and Boomer is sick of people saying he’s a ‘system quarterback’. Boomer wants the AFC Championship in Miami but that might be some tough sledding. Boomer thinks it could be in Baltimore. C-Lo is here for his first update of the day but first something smells in the studio. C-Lo starts with Randall Cobb actually catching a TD from Zach Wilson. The Cowboys had no problem with the Eagles last night. There was a controversial finish in the Chiefs/Bills game with Kadarius Toney being called offside after a great lateral play by Mahomes, Kelce and Toney. Andy Reid called it ‘a bit embarrassing’. Gio said Toney is an idiot for doing that. In the final segment of the hour, Josh Cohen, a spotter at CBS, tweeted that Kadarius Toney did check with the ref to see if he was lined up properly. He did not know whether the ref told him he was or not. Patrick Mahomes was complaining to Josh Allen after the game when they met at midfield.
Shohei Ohtani goes to the Dodgers for 10 years, $700 million. Jon Morosi put out a Tweet that said Ohtani was on his way to Toronto. He apologized for getting bad information. There are rumors Ohtani’s people planted the story with Morosi to get more money from the Dodgers. The Dodgers are deferring some of the money to benefit them and to benefit Ohtani’s tax situation. Gio thinks the Dodgers got played, that there wasn’t another team willing to offer him anywhere near that money. On Saturday night, a bunch of guys from WFAN went to the Islanders game and Gio was among them. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with Zach Wilson throwing on the run to Garrett Wilson. Zach said the flow of playing football was there yesterday and it hasn’t been much so far in his career. C-Lo has the play by play of Mahomes to Kelce to Toney that got called back. Mahomes was at a ‘loss for words’ talking about the refs again. The Raiders/Vikings were scoreless until the 2 minute warning and that’s how it ended. Josh Dobbs was benched for Nick Mullens. In the final segment of the hour, what do we expect from tonight’s Giants/Packers game? Both teams are capable of playing good football and horrendous football. Gio thinks Green Bay will win but would not be shocked if the Giants win. We talked about Caleb Williams to the Bears in the draft. In the Chiefs/Bills game, at least the refs called the penalty immediately after the ball was snapped. And it was a penalty, as Toney clearly lined up offsides.
Boomer was impressed by the Cowboys kicker that kicked a 60 and 59 yard FG last night. We talked more about the refs ruining football by calling inconsistent penalties. A caller had a question about the ‘three jabronis’ during the Army/Navy coverage of CBS. A caller wondered if this weekend was the most backup QBs to play ever. C-Lo returns for an update but first he tells us he would not have put an Islanders jersey on if he was in the owner’s box. He’s a Rangers fan and wouldn’t do it. C-Lo starts with Zach Wilson throwing for 301 yards. Sauce Gardner talked about Zach’s performance. The Cowboys had no problem with the Eagles last night. Patrick Mahomes was complaining to Josh Allen after the game about the call. Joe Benigno didn’t know why WFAN digital put a pic of him on Time Magazine with Taylor Swift’s cat around his neck. In the final segment of the hour, a caller is mad for the offside call on KC, but Gio said the overhead shot shows how offside he really was. It was a lot.
Zach Wilson played with a chip on his shoulder and staved off any talk this week of Rob Saleh getting fired. The Jets defense smothered the Texans. Zach got away with ‘off platform plays’ because it was the Texans and not a team like the Niners. Gio is looking forward to the Jets defense against the Dolphins. They had an off day the first time they played on Black Friday. Tyreek Hill should get serious consideration for MVP even though that usually goes to a quarterback. A caller thinks we’re not praising Zach Wilson enough for yesterday’s performance. C-Lo is back for his final update of the day but first Boomer is impressed by Jake Browning of the Bengals. C-Lo has audio from Zach who was thrilled to make big throws and win the game. The Cowboys had no problem with the Eagles last night handing the Eagles back to back losses. Josh Allen was happy to get the win for Sean McDermott after his character was questioned this week. Joe Flacco had a big game and Gio wonders why Flacco was so bad with the Jets. The Moment of The Day involves Joe Benigno, Time magazine and Taylor Swift’s cat. In the final segment of the show, Heisman winner Jayden Daniels was on the NFL Today yesterday. Boomer gave us his impression.
