Borah Pridecast

For this Pridecast episode, we sit down with Don Day, founder and publisher of Boise Dev – an online news and growth publication for Boise and the Treasure Valley. A 1999 alum, Don began his journalism career as an editor for Borah High School’s newspaper, the Senator, where he honed his skills as both a thoughtful, investigative reporter and a techy, webmaster wizard. And his trajectory of success continues to rise these 25 years later. These are Borah voices.

The 7th season of the Borah Pridecast has been a "restructuring" year. Our audio expert, Mr. Wray, did what a lot of teachers hope to do: he retired. So, we've been trying to get some episodes done while learning the editing ropes; and it's been a tough year, but we've finally found the "on air" button on the this thing, so here comes Episode #31!

In this sit down interview with Borah U.S. Government teacher Korrin Rue, listeners get a taste of what it's like to teach high school government classes in the midst of the current political climate in this country (hint: it's a little awkward). This is an insightful, compelling, and honest look at today's politics in the high school classroom. These are Borah voices.

The Pridecast is set to go for Season 7 and the podcast crew is eager to drop some episodes. Stay tuned, too, for the 2nd Season of Borah Voices, the completely student generated podcast from Borah High School. It's going to be a great year!

Pin on your boutonnieres, and tighten your cummerbunds! This episode dropped back in April of 2018 -- before COVID ruined the high school prom. A little romcom, a little tragicomedy as Borah teachers offer a nostalgic look back at their own high school prom nights. Hattie Smith (2018 grad) gives her"Hattie Minute" -- and her two cents -- about student "promposals," and Ms. Hughes offers student listeners some prom etiquette advice. These are Borah voices!

Episode #3 finds the podcast team sliding into the 4th quarter with the slight, exciting twinge of summer break on the horizon. We chat up students standing in line for the Friday Food Trucks; seniors share their graduation plans, the podcast crew introduce themselves. We also reached into the Borah Pridecast archives to retrieve Mr. Rose's Prep Period Cold Call with Mrs. Atkins, and a short excerpt of Rueben's interview with fiction, film criticism and former comedy writer for The Onion, Fran Hoepfner.
