This episode continues with the UN push north toward the 38th Parallel during Operations Rugged and Dauntless. We explain Line Kansas, Line Utah, Line Wyoming, Route 33, and the Iron Triangle. We cover the arrival of more than 1,000 replacement troops from Puerto Rico, friendly fire incidents and tank battles.
We also tell the unbelievable true story of Sergeant First Class Modesto Cartagena de Jesús, the Borinqueneer nicknamed “One Man Army,” whose actions on Hill 206 earned him the Distinguished Service Cross and made him one of the most decorated Hispanic soldiers of the Korean War. The episode closes as Chinese forces launch the massive Spring Offensive of April 1951.
