In this episode, we are joined by Pastor Ben Parks from The Valley Church in Cincinnati Ohio. We begin our series on Justice that will cover: 1) What the Bible says about justice, 2) If we should and how to apply biblical justice 3) How the Bible approaches issues like social justice and specifically the organization Black Lives Matter, 4) What is the difference between mercy and justice on a governmental and personal level.  

In this episode we will be talking about how God and Moses set up the new leader of the Israelites to be Joshua. In the book of Joshua, we see that God begins with baptizing His people by parting the Jordan River, having them remember the promises that God has given to the tribes through circumcision (which had been neglected) and Passover.  After the Israelites are reminded that God has and will always be faithful to His people, they attack the city of Jericho and begin their long battles of clearing the Canaanites out of the land of Canaan. The book ends with the tribes being split up and given different lands and no specific leader is ordained. The Israelites are largely spread out and ruled by elders and priests. 

These leaders are not strong and they rebelled against God, so God sends Canaanites to rule over them. The people cry out and God sends Judges to save them. In this episode we talk about the different Judges and how they execute judgement on behalf of God. These judges spiral with the people of God out of control. The end of Judges ends with just a disgusting story.

On this Monday episode, I sit down with the lovely Kylie Esch to discuss the law from a Reformed Confessional perspective. We are answering questions about where did the law come from? Do we have to follow the whole law? If parts, which parts and why those parts? Is the law typological of Christ? How to explain some of the odd laws that do not make sense to us in 2020.
