This week's guest Winnie Ogwang, co-founder of Living Proof. The idea came about in 2020 when Winnie and her co-founders saw the power of innovation skills in the hands of young people - pulling out stories and insights from their communities quickly and authentically. Simply because of trust. Genius. It’s clear they have the fearless raw energy and commercial instincts that businesses desperately need. And they’re the diverse young audience that organisations need to become future-fit.
Born and raised in South-East London, Winnie is grounded in the culture of altruism of her immigrant community, which so often fills the gap the state leaves behind.
Winnie brings expertise in operations and specialises in participation through roles at Camden Council.
Winnie is shaped by her lived experience as the child of refugees and is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to learn how they can bring their whole selves to work and thrive.
In this episode, Coni and Winnie talk about:

This week we are joined by Steph Douglas, Founder of Don’t Buy Her Flowers.
Steph Douglas founded Don’t Buy Her Flowers in 2014, leaving her brand marketing role, to pursue an idea she had following the birth of her children.
After receiving eight bunches of flowers when she had her first baby, Steph realised the well-meaning bouquet soon lost its shine when you were the one filling vases, all while juggling a newborn and feeling overwhelmed. Steph started sending building packages to her friends who were also managing the early days of motherhood, and she saw the delight, and real emotion a thoughtful package, tailored specifically to encourage them to take a bit of time for themselves, could bring.
With a background in corporate brand marketing, Steph knew she could “sell” a product. But the journey to building a retail business was new and unnerving; despite admitting she’s never worked harder in her life, it has always felt exactly like the right path. Originally launching for new mums, the company now offers packages for all occasions, including gifts for him, workplaces, couples and more.

Our guest this week is Leeanne Adu, an award-winning Personal Assistant and the Founder of Leave it with Lava. After spending a decade building her brand and business, following the birth of her daughter, Leeanne decided the time was right to branch out and offer her services providing virtual business support to small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Since then the business has begun to thrive and Leeanne smashed her goal to become fully self-employed by the end of 2019. Juggling not only motherhood and a full time business, in late 2020 Leeanne was diagnosed with stage 3, grade 3, triple negative breast cancer, which she is currently undergoing treatment for.
Leeanne also runs the Big Hearted, a community focused Backpackers running group for those who run at a slower pace. Outside the pandemic, the group meets once a week and Backpackers provides a home for those who feel lost in the many running groups around London which only support the faster runners. In her “spare” time Leeanne loves to run and uses running to help combat her own struggles with her mental health. You can follow her many adventures on instagram

As someone who runs a community for women, I see confidence (or lack thereof) coming up often as a reason why women don’t follow through on incredible ideas and well thought out plans, I also see oppression within our system every day and so wanted to find out from Lauren how she has learned to challenge the way we live and function within a society that is not built to support women.
