Fate is a concept often discussed in role-playing games. However, very few, at least with those with an ensemble cast, toy with the notion of accepting your role in part of a greater story. The Fated Children, our starring protagonists and antagonists of Final Fantasy VIII gave a different feeling to JRPGs at the time of its release. We discuss it conceptualization, creation, and the legacy it leaves today in video game history.
