  • Bourbon Turntable - Wolfe & Wilson (Alan Bishop & Erik Wolfe)

Alan Bishop and Erik Wolfe are two of my favorite guests and two of my favorite people. We have a great time discussing the origins of Wolfe & Wilson and future plans that this duo has in the works.

We also talk about one of our favorite bands, Stone Temple Pilots.

  • Bourbon Turntable - Corey Congilio (A Good Place to Start)

My guest is Corey Congilio.  He is a highly-sought-after session guitarist and teacher.  His style blends blues, rock, jazz, and country.  He also has two EPs that he has released.  2016's "Well Suited" is a collection of original songs and 2025's "A Good Place to Start" is a remarkable set of imaginative blues covers.

Corey and I have a great time talking music and sipping on some bourbons that are "a good place to start" for new bourbon drinkers: Four Roses "yellow label" and Elijah Craig.

You can find Corey's music on all streaming services.  Information on Corey, his career, and live shows can be found on his web site:

  • Bourbon Turntable: Potter Jane Distilling's Big Vat Liar (with guest Mike Lisac)

Mike Lisac (My Whiskey Den) joins me to taste the "controversial" first release from Potter Jane Distilling: Big Vat Liar.

If you don't know why it is "controversial" then you'll have to watch the show to find out.

Potter Jane Distilling is the combined effort of Denny Potter and Jane Bowie (both of Maker's Mark fame).

Mike and I provide our tasting notes and opinions on this release and then talk about some lies and liars found in music.

  • Bourbon Turntable - Henry Cruz of Henry Cruz Band

Get ready to meet an exceptional, young musician out of Nashville named Henry Cruz.  If you like The Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, and The Black Crowes...you are gonna dig Henry Cruz.

While Henry and I discuss his album, The Big Nashville Record, we sip on some Tennessee Whiskey: Company Distilling's whiskey finished with pecan wood and Jack Daniel's barrel proof rye.

    Henry's website: https://henrycruzmusic.com/home

Be sure to catch him on Instagram, Spotify, and You Tube.  You Tube has some great live performances!

Mike Lisac and I sample special 250th releases from Stoll & Wolfe, Chicken Cock, Yellowstone, and Buzzard's Roost.

We also talk about some of our favorite renditions of the Star Spangled Banner and some of our not-so-favorite, too.

Celebrate well and enjoy your freedom.  Love on America...she needs it.

  • Bourbon Turntable - Review of The Cold Stares "Texas" album

Things get off the rails a bit, but that is to be expected when I'm joined by this guest, Jason Johantges of All Things Blues and Southern Rock podcast.

You'll get our review of the new album from The Cold Stares, "Texas", but you get so much more than that.  We have a really good time together as we talk about the band, the album, and drink some Texas Whiskey (from Ironroot Republic).

We also touch on some of our other favorite bands: Parker Barrow, Mojo Thunder, and Otis.

The bottom line take away is: we love this album and we love Bryce Kleuh.  We love him very, very much.

  • Bourbon Turntable - Blackberry Smoke, Parker Barrow, and a Bear

This episode comes from my weekend trip to the Smoky Mountains to see Blackberry Smoke and Parker Barrow at The Shed as I fend off a bear attack.  "Attack" might be a tad too strong.

I also discuss my visit to Company Distilling (founded by former Jack Daniel's master distiller, Jeff Arnett).

  • Bourbon Turntable - Mynd Reader (featuring Brian Sachs)

You need to listen to this self-titled album from Mynd Reader.  It is an amazing story set to incredible music.  I know you'll love the album and I think you'll also love my conversation with Brian Sachs (founder of Mynd Reader).

In addition to talking about the album, we also sip on some pours from Leopold Bros. Deerhammer, and Nulu Spirits.

Be sure to follow Mynd Reader on all social media and listen to them wherever you stream music.

  • Bourbon Turntable - Kentucky Derby Picks (and a near catastrophe with a cocktail)

It is Derby Week for all those who celebrate (and you should celebrate)!

In this episode I share my story of a near-disaster cocktail creation that ended with a call to my wife: "Honey, first, I didn't burn down the house".

I also go through my picks for the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby.  You can bet with me, you can fade me, or pick your tickets all on your own.  But, let's have a little fun with the 1st Saturday in May and the Run for the Roses.
