'BradCast' 7/16/2021 (Guest: Media analyst Eric Boehlert on faux 'Critical Race Theory' outrage)

On today's 'BradCast':  The faint-of-heart or Fox 'News' viewers should proceed with caution before listening to today's broadcast, as we discuss the very, very scary 'Critical Race Theory.' After previous attempts to manufacture outrage over Dr. Suess and Mr. Potato Head failed, rightwing media and the Republican Party have targeted Critical Race Theory as their new pretend threat to the nation. Republican politicians are even passing laws to cancel teaching Critical Race Theory - - a decades old, largely obscure (until now), academic theory that (correctly) examines our nation's long history of systemic racism in our laws and society. However, as media critic and analyst ERIC BOEHLERT of the PRESS RUN newsletter points out, most Americans have no idea what Critical Race Theory is, or that it isn't even taught in K-12 schools. Boehlert details how the Republican Party and its 'billion-dollar rightwing propaganda media empire and infrastructure' gin up the outrage-and-grievance machine, with non-wingnut corporate media outlets acting as if they are obligated to cover the phony fury. Boehlert explains how and why the big media outlets are failing miserably in their coverage to accurately inform the public, and how news consumers should approach such manufactured outrages. A new NASA study warns how a natural 'wobble' in the moon's orbit will likely result in a severe spike in flooding in coastal areas in the 2030s.
