We're continuing in our sermon series "From Our Lips to God's Ears: Living a Life of Prayer." Last week, in Part One of our two-part sermon "The Practice of Prayer," we considered HOW and WHEN to pray, learning some practical advice from the Bible. This week, in Part Two, Pastor Kent will be leading us in considering WITH WHOM and FOR WHAT we should pray. We'll also be celebrating communion together.

The Bible and the Christian faith seem to focus a lot on the significance of blood, and by some counts, the word "blood" appears in the Bible approximately 700 times, but it's particularly the blood of Christ that is most important to us. Pastor Kent is away this Sunday and Paul Hay will be bringing a sermon titled "The Strange Word of the Gospel" as we explore that more thoroughly together.

We're continuing in our sermon series "From Our Lips to God's Ears: Living a Life of Prayer." Prayer is intended to be central to our identity as Christians, and we are directed to bring everything to God in prayer. The Bible also encourages us to "pray without ceasing" and to "let our requests be made known to God." Fortunately, the Bible gives us both teaching and examples of praying in the way God intended. Pastor Kent will be taking a closer look at that teaching and those examples in a sermon this week titled "The Persistence of Prayer."

We're continuing in our sermon series "From Our Lips to God's Ears: Living a Life of Prayer." What’s a “principle”? Principles are fundamental truths or propositions that serve as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior. And when it comes to prayer, we’re specifically taking about the “principles," the fundamental truths about prayer, that were outlined by Jesus and his disciples. Pastor Kent will be leading us in exploring this important subject this week as we learn more about "The Principles of Prayer."

We're continuing in our sermon series "From Our Lips to God's Ears: Living a Life of Prayer." Have you ever stopped to consider that prayer is a direct line of communication to the Creator of the universe? It's a breathtaking opportunity that is open to followers of Jesus Christ, and it can literally transform not only our own lives and circumstances, but the lives and circumstances of others, as we intentionally seek God's will. We'll be exploring that more together this week as Pastor Kent brings a sermon titled "The Privilege of Prayer."

We're often reminded, especially at Christmastime, that God came near through the birth of Jesus. Jesus is given many names in the Bible: Wonderful Counsellor, Prince of Peace, and others. But there's one name that specifically focuses on the closeness of God to us through the person of Jesus, and Paul will be exploring that name, and what it means for our lives, in a sermon titled "Immanuel."

As human beings, we often feel negatively affected by changing circumstances in our lives. How other people treat us or cause us pain can also leave us feeling hurt and ignored. Life can feel so hard sometimes, and we may wonder how an all-knowing and all-powerful God could possibly relate to our situation or the difficult realities of our lives. Paul will be exploring this and bringing hope in a sermon titled "Vulnerable."
