BraemarCast: The Podcast of Braemar Baptist Church

We're continuing in our four-part sermon series called "Back to the Basics," that will refresh and reground us in some of the most important priorities in our discipleship journey: Prayer, Scripture, Confession, and Service.

This week, Pastor Kent will be leading us as we focus on the topic of "Scripture," as we're reminded that scripture is living, active, and profitable to us. We'll also be exploring how both Jesus and scripture are referred to as "the word."

Pastor Kent is back this week, and he'll be starting a new four-part sermon series called "Back to the Basics," that will refresh and reground us in some of the most important priorities in our discipleship journey: Prayer, Scripture, Confession, and Service.

This week, we'll be focusing on the topic of "Prayer" as we seek to have a prayer life that is constant...bold...and inclusive, just as Jesus modelled for us.

There is so much hatred and anger in our world right now, with people viewing anyone who disagrees with them as the enemy to be attacked and silenced. Fear is at the root of so much of this: fear of losing control; fear of the unknown or unfamiliar; fear of letting go of our own best interests, to put other people first.

As 1 John 4:18 reminds us, perfect love, God's love...drives out fear. And this love is so boldy on display for the world to see at Christmastime. This week, we're concluding our Advent sermon series "Behold: A Child is Born", as Pastor Kent brings a sermon titled "The Servant Love of Jesus."

We're continuing in our Advent sermon series "Behold: A Savior is Born" this week, as Pastor Kent brings a sermon titled "The Joy of Anticipation."

Christmas is a season of anticipation, as we look forward to spending time with family and friends, giving and receiving gifts, or having some down time to rest and recharge before we launch into a new year. Many of those things may also bring us joy, but not often without a bit of stress as well, as we shop, prep, and complete other tasks. True joy is only found in the promise and arrival of Jesus, and the kind of deep and abiding joy that he brings to and for all people.

The Christmas season sometimes seems like a contradiction. While we sing songs about white Christmasses and peace on earth, the world around us seems so anxious and chaotic, and the pace of life is busier than ever. Where can we find real peace?

Thankfully, God's peace is far more dependable than anything our world could ever offer. This week, we're continuing in our Advent sermon series "Behold: A Child is Born", as Pastor Kent brings a sermon titled "Prophetic Peace."

We're launching into our Advent sermon series "Behold: A Savior is Born" this week, as Pastor Kent brings a sermon titled "The Promised Hope."

Our world so desperately needs a sense of hope, doesn't it? In Jesus, God promised the only true hope we would ever need, as God would be with us! Join us as we consider the prophecies and presence of the coming of the Messiah.

This week, we’re concluding "Acts: To All the World," our in-depth sermon series on the book of Acts. Over the course of this series, we've spent time recognizing the roots of the early church, and also how God worked through the Apostle Paul to spread the gospel to the Gentiles and into the larger world.

Pastor Kent is bringing a sermon titled "Paul in Rome" from Acts 28:17-31, as we look at some final events, and consider the lasting impact of Paul's work in Rome, and his ministry as a whole.

We'll explore the events, recognize the main theme of hospitality, and consider what it means to be hospitable to others and receive hospitality ourselves.

We're exploring a pretty tense set of circumstances this week that involve a storm at sea, as Pastor Kent brings a sermon from Acts 27:1-44 titled "A Very Stormy Voyage." At the core of this tense voyage, we'll see how and where we direct our attention, and who we listen to in our lives, can and will affect us in ways we can't usually imagine or anticipate.

At this point in our study of Acts, we're recognizing that as much as the gospel was spreading and people were coming to Christ, opponents of the message seemed to be desperate to throw a wrench into things. Pastor Kent is bringing a sermon this week from Acts 24:1-27 titled "Paul's Defence Before Felix" as we consider how a Roman official reacted to, and resisted the truth.
