“Bramhanacha Dev” is a story of a group of boys in their late teens, who just enjoy being a nuisance to the whole village located in Konkan. Be it pulling pranks on the village teacher to even teasing girls. Their pranks intensify until one day they throw into a ditch a God’s statue, only to ultimately realize that it is time to grow up...

This story is written by late Hamid Dalwai, a great social thinker and reformist. This story has been written almost fifty years ago but remains contemporary in the social ethos that it projects.

"ब्राम्हणाचा देव", हे विशीच्या उंबरठ्यावर असणाऱ्या कोकणातल्या काही मुलांच्या एका घोळक्याची गोष्ट आहे, ज्यांचा दिवसच गावाला त्रास देण्यात जातो. शाळामास्तरांची खोडी काढण्यापासून ते मुलींची छेड काढ्ण्यापर्यन्त त्यांची मजल जायला लागते. एक दिवस देवाची मूर्ती पहाऱ्यात टाकण्यापर्यंत त्यांची हिम्मत जाते, पण आपला मार्ग सुधारावा ही उमजही त्यांना या घटनेतून येते.

हि गोष्ट सामाजिक विचारवंत आणि समाज सुधारक असलेल्या हमिद दलवाईंनी जवळ जवळ पन्नास वर्षांपूर्वी लिहिली, पण त्यातून उठून येणारा सामाजिक विचार,  हा आजही तितकाच लागू पडतो.
