In Brand on Broadcasting with Ross Brand, we share takeaways from Podcast Movement 2018, including tips for keeping your listeners engaged, and talk about the one big mistake you are probably making with your podcast.
This episode is focused on what we learned at Podcast Movement and how it can help all of us improve our broadcasts.
Brad Friedman is a best-selling author and the host of the Digital Slice Podcast. He helps clients with inbound and social media marketing at The Friedman Group. Join me as I sit down with Brad at Podcast Movement on the final day of the conference in downtown Philadelphia as Brad shares his takeaways.
The interview with Brad was recorded live at Podcast Movement in Philadelphia on July 26, 2018. Thanks to TalkShoe for streaming the live audio and Heil Sound for providing the Heil PR40 microphones plus the headphones, headphone amps and boom arms.

On Brand on Broadcasting with Ross Brand, I talk about audio interfaces, what they do and why they are important to the quality of your audio when recording in a computer or streaming to the internet.
I also discuss Sound Devices' MixPre-3, an audio interface, mixer and recorder. What makes it unique vs competing products is not only the outstanding quality of its Kashmir preamps, but its ability to serve as both a recorder and audio interface at the same time. We wish a very happy 20th anniversary to the team at Sound Devices, a company with a great reputation for making high-quality audio products. I look forward to checking out more gear from Sound Devices at Podcast Movement in Philadelphia later this month. A review of the MixPre-6 by Daniel J. Lewis is very thorough. Sound Devices actually made an update to fix the issue causing one of Daniel's few criticisms in the otherwise strongly favorable review.
Parts of this episode were recorded live on Facebook Live late at night on July 13, 2018, and early in the morning on July 14, 2018.
On Brand on Broadcasting with Ross Brand, I talk about how IGTV and YouTube are different, why YouTube favors bigger channels and IGTV provides a more level playing field for newer video creators, and how vertical video works well for certain types of content.
This episode features the recording of a livestream hosted the day after IGTV was announced and hour after YouTube revealed some major new features, including Merchandise, Memberships and Premieres, at VidCon. I also briefly review my experience as a speaker at Social Media Day Lima, Ohio, founded by Jessika Phillips and hosted by Now Marketing Group.
On Brand on Broadcasting with Ross Brand, PureMatter CEO Bryan Kramer talked about the value of going live in private Facebook groups vs on public Facebook pages, how Facebook is moving toward a paid content model, why he traveled to Toronto to record videos that he’s giving away for free, and how Instagram’s new vertical video platform, IGTV, could become the destination that everyone visits for online video.
Bryan joined me for the interview in person at #SMWL18 (Social Media Week Lima, Ohio), the Midwest’s largest social media conference, where we were both speakers. We sat down less than 24 hours after the announcement of IGTV. Bryan, as I’ve come to expect, already had formulated a strong and sensible take on the implications of this new video platform.
I’m delighted to share our conversation and honored to present Bryan as the inaugural guest on Brand on Broadcasting. In addition to being one of the most respected thought leaders and accomplished public speakers in the industry, Bryan stands out among the leading social media and digital marketing personalities for his kindness, generosity and class.
In the first few minutes of the episode, I talk about my reasons for starting a new podcast and how this one differs from The Livestream Universe Update and #LivestreamDeals.
