Clay Cooper has been performing for Branson audiences since the age of 16, originally coming to Branson to perform with a kid's band known as the Texas Goldminors. Clay loved country music, loved singing and playing bass, and loved meeting new people.

This week we welcome Shawn Barker as Waylon Jennings!

Shawn Barker was born and raised in the metro St. Louis area where like most entertainers, Shawn’s first experience with music was attending church with his family. From singing in church, playing drums in the school marching band or singing in cover bands and coffee houses, music and entertainment has always been in Shawn’s blood. In 2004, Shawn auditioned for the part of Elvis Presley in the Broadway production of “Million Dollar Quartet”. The Director, Floyd Mutrux, (“Dick Tracy” & “American Hot Wax”) recognized Shawn’s unique talent and requested Shawn to submit an audition for the part of Johnny Cash. Shawn agreed and was instantly cast in the part with Mutrux saying, “We have 100 people who can play Elvis, but we only have one that can play Johnny Cash.” Since then, Shawn has performed his unmatchable tribute to Johnny Cash all over the world.

While performing as Johnny Cash for Legends in Concert in Branson, Missouri, Shawn heard that they were going to open a new show, Legends of Country®, in 2021 and that they were looking for some top- quality country acts. A long time Waylon Jennings fan, Shawn decided to put an act together and see what would become of it. The production department at Legends in Concert was blown away by his transformation. He looks and sounds just like the outlaw, Waylon Jennings. You can currently see Shawn Barker performing as Waylon Jennings in our Legends in Concert Spring cast, Feb. 4th – May 24th, 2022. This week we welcome Tammy and Tonya Bilyeu!

Tammy & Tonya started singing in churches at a very young age along with their parents and three other siblings, Renee, Jamie and Laysa. Their father, Tommy Bilyeu, was a Southern Baptist minister in the Ozarks and The Bilyeu Family spread their ministry in song over the region for many years. Branson historians will remember Tonya & Tammy's start in show business by performing with their family, the Baldknobbers, in the late 70's and early 80's. The duo also spent over a decade performing as the "Stutterettes" with Country Music legend, Mel Tillis.

It's just not Sunday afternoon without the sweet harmonies and hand-clapping excitement of some good old Southern Gospel music! Ozarks Gospel combines great music with good clean laughter and family fun! Before the curtain closes, you'll find yourself singing along with this wonderful group as they lift spirits through song. This week we welcome Jeannie Kendall!

Formed in 1969, The Kendall's recorded an album for Stop Records, from which a single was released in 1970: a cover of John Denver's "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (previously a hit for Peter, Paul & Mary). The Kendall's version narrowly missed the top fifty on the U.S. country charts. The duo signed with Dot Records in 1972, and released an album and two singles, "Two Divided By Love", (a cover version of The Grass Roots' pop hit) and "Everything I Own" a cover of Bread's 1972 hit.

Eventually, the Kendall's parted with their record label, before signing with the independent Ovation Label in 1977. Their first single for the label, a cover of Kitty Wells hit "Making Believe", made the lower regions of the charts (Emmylou Harris' version of "Making Believe" hit the U.S. Country Charts around the same time). It was the Kendall's 2nd single on Ovation, a "cheating" song called "Heaven's Just a Sin Away", that proved to be their breakthrough. The song topped the country charts and was also a minor crossover pop hit, and won the 1978 Grammy for Best Country Vocal by a Duo or Group.

In 1981, after Ovation Records closed, the duo signed with Mercury Records and continued to have hits with "Teach Me To Cheat" and "If You're Waitin' On Me (You're Backin' Up), which both made the country top 10. More hits followed with "Movin' Train" and "Precious Love," which made the top 20.

Their last #1 was 1984's "Thank God For the Radio". The Kendall's had many more Top 20 hits in the 80's and early 90's. The also had a supper club in Gulf Shores, Alabama and a theater in Branson, MO.

After her fathers death in 1998 Jeannie has pursued a solo career. In 2013, she joined forces with entertainer Carl Acuff Jr. who now opens the show and sing's with Jeannie to recreate that unique sound and those favorite "Kendall's" hits.

This week we welcome the Branson Famous Baldknobbers!

In 1959, Mabe brothers Bob, Bill, Lyle, and Jim began performing twice a week in a converted roller skating rink on the Lake Taneycomo lakefront to entertain visiting fishermen at night. The brothers combined popular country tunes with Ozark Mountain music and threw in a dash of comedy to entertain audiences. Their instruments were simple like: the washtub bass, banjo, Dobro, and a mule’s jawbone for rhythm. Little did they know in the late 1950's that they would become the founding fathers of Branson's music show industry.

In 1969, the Baldknobbers, as the brothers called themselves, built a theater on Highway 76, making their act the longest continuously running show in town.

From their humble beginnings, they began growing in popularity and size, eventually converting an old skating rink into Branson’s first live- entertainment theatre. Now 63 years later, the big-red curtain raises every night at 8pm to entertain Branson visitors.

This week we welcome The Sons Music Celebration!

The Sons were “born” August of 2005. Their first show was to a crowd of about 35, singing old time cowboy music for a Salute to the Great American Cowboy Festival. While performing at Silver Dollar City festivals, they sang bluegrass in May, then family-friendly “faith, family, and freedom” songs for the summer, August was gospel for a Southern Gospel Picnic festival, cowboy and country for a Fall Festival, and even had a Christmas show during Ozark Mountain Christmas.

In 2021, The Sons moved into the entertainment community of Branson on May 5th and performed a full 80 minute concert at 10am at the Little Opry Theatre located in the IMAX Entertainment Complex. By combining their repertoire into two different shows, The Sons were on their own and loving it!

For 2022, The Sons found a new home in The Majestic Theatre located in the historic Majestic Steakhouse. They will continue with the 10 am concert time.

The group consist of: Lead, Rich Watson (9th year, Charleston, SC); Tenor, Barry Arwood (4th year, Joplin, MO); Baritone, Tom Johnson (founding member, Superior, WI.).

They refer to their vocal arrangement as lead, tenor, and baritone, however, and have arranged most of their songs utilizing a floating lead vocalization. The tight three-part harmonies are what makes the blend of The Sons so unique.
