Braxton Cook Creates Beyond The Confines Of Genre

Listen Later

Genre-bending artist and multi-instrumentalist Braxton Cook constantly experiments with his sound, combining influences ranging from John Coltrane to modern hip-hop, always rooted in Black tradition and culture. Braxton Cook released his latest album ‘Who Are You When No One Is Watching?’ on February 24, which has been in the works for the past three years. On tour in support of the album, he stopped by the Vocalo studios to discuss the album and tour with afternoon host Nudia Hernandez. They also discussed his love of instruments, friendships in the industry, analyzing Black love and the story behind his song “90s.”
This interview aired on Vocalo Radio 91.1 FM during Nudia In The Afternoons on Thursday, June 23. It was edited and produced by Nudia Hernandez. Keep up with Braxton on Instagram @braxton_cook.
