The Lord in all His teaching only once referred to Himself as the King. It is found only in this passage. He describes that moment of His final conquest of the World. All the peoples of the earth are brought Him. He is surrounded by an army of Holy Angels. He has vanquished His foes and rescued His people and now He divides a flock of people into two classes. He is the King. He is in the moment of His return. He has set up His throne to begin His rule among the nations. He now is determining who it is that shall occupy His Kingdom and who it is that shall be taken away into everlasting judgement.

The Parable of the Talents stands as a warning and also a wonderful promise.

Here is what to focus upon. The groom is the Lord Jesus. He is being waited for. He is worth waiting for. He is bringing those waiting for Him into an everlasting place of celebration and blessing. His coming seems delayed... -life goes on while you wait- But He will also come suddenly and surprisingly. Here also you should note. We are to be found waiting for Him.
