This week I welcome back my friend Paul Thigpen. We discuss a book that quite frankly scared the hell out of me and it should you too! Join us as we dive into his book Saints Who Saw Hell: And Other Catholic Witnesses to the Fate of the Damned. Get your copy here.

Questions Covered:

05:43 - Is baptism by immersion necessary? Ezekiel makes it sound like it is not.

16:58 - How can you believe in purgatory? It would make it seem like Christ’s death on the cross was not sufficient.

36:24 - When the priest elevates the host and the altar server lifts the priest’s chasuble, what does that mean?

46:00 - Is there valid baptism in Protestant churches?

Questions Covered:

09:21 - I went to confession and the priest would not absolve me. I went to a different priest who did absolve me of my sins. Is it wrong for me to have gone to a different priest?

22:47 - Are canons 68-70 at the fourth Lateran council dogmatic? They concern the treatment of Jewish people.

37:05 - How are we meant to make the sign of the cross? Do we use our whole hand or a few fingers?

46:25 - I attend a Lutheran church, but I believe in the Real Presence. Am I receiving the true Body and Blood of Christ?

53:15 - What is the Catholic Church’s position on theonomy?

Episode #53: A new report has come out exposing more clergy corruption. It reveals that Church review boards have a long history of protecting clergy instead of their victims. Should we feel discouraged? No! Jesus is exposing more and more in his holy light because he is calling us to stand strong against the Enemy. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our struggle is not truly against abusive clergy and the bishops who fail to protect their flocks but against the Devil. In this episode, Terry Modica explains three weapons that God is calling us to use for defeating the demonic strategies that have been trying to destroy the Church from within.

Taylor announces he's going to Rome to visit holy places...and cohost Shaun McAfee! The guys chat about why pilgrimages are a thing and the benefits they can bring.

Our guest this week is Han Solo clone, Tim Glemkowski. The guys go crazy for a bit and then get around to talking about Tim's book "Made For Mission" about parish culture. He shares what us little laypeople can do to give and receive more from our parishes.

In the final segment, Taylor begrudgingly lets Shaun plug his new book "I'm Catholic, Now What?" Believe it or not, Shaun's book is actually quite intriguing and led to a fun convo on how good or bad of a Catholic Taylor really is.

Spirit & Life: The Holy Sacraments of the Catholic ChurchTo Purchase: Visit your local Catholic book store or Sophia Institute Press

Breath-taking coffee table book with shiny pages, a sturdy cover, and appealing photos but what makes it so special is the rich, authentic, and faith-building contents.  Each section explores one of the Seven Sacraments via the Scriptures, Catechism of the Catholic Church, a Commentary from a Church Father, and a Reflection from a contemporary writer.  To read more of the foundational building writing of the Church Fathers, Rea recommends NewAdvent.org.Spirit and Life inspired by the Holy Spirit was brought to life by Rose Rea and Gemma Hawes, who also created Radiant and Valiant magazines (Our Sunday Visitor).  You'll love the way the Spirit moved in their hearts to "birth" this magnificent hard-cover book.  It is modernity in an old fashioned package.  The treasures of the church, where our hearts should all be, unfold page after page. Another example of how beauty draws us to and nearer to God.

This interview was so much more than, "tell me about your book," it was truly, share with me your faith and how the Lord is using it to bring Him glory. In the end, I was so inspired, and I believe you will be too!!
