This week on the podcast we talk about the O word, yes the word that sends some into a fit of rage. Obedience. Our culture is a culture of disobedience, it is expected and sometimes even revered as some sort of secular virtue. This weeks readings go into having to be obedient to the Word in order to be healed, and then return in thanksgiving in order to be saved. Christ has the ability to heal us, but we have to be faithful and not walk away from Him in our restored state.

NEW EPISODE: Being thankful can be a part of our everyday lives; it leads us to help others out of love. Join us for a wonderful reflection for this Sunday’s Gospel (October 13) from Fathers Phillip and Ricardo.

Join  Fr. Scott Mansfield, Pastor of St. John Vianney and Tony Wilimitis, Director of Formation as they give an in depth review of the Gospel from The Twenty Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time: Smokes Goes Country.

Remember to subscribe in iTunes/Google Play/your favorite podcast app, and to leave us a review.

The most prominent heresy of the fourth century was the catalyst behind the Nicene Creed that we profess at every Divine Liturgy and Holy Mass. Richaél Lucero lays out the history and theology of this controversy.

It is so easy to separate our faith from our finances and think of them as two entirely separate unrelated things. But often times when we get into debt there is a spiritual void we are trying to fill by buying things we can’t afford.

Financial challenges can be a hidden monster in many families and marriages. By shining the light of faith into that dark corner, we can tackle and tame the debt monster and learn that every area of our life, including how we handle money, has a spiritual impact.

The Compass Catholic blog has more about the spiritual impact of debt.
