  • The Frank Friar - Episode 198: Cultivating Gratitude
During this past week I tried to give thanks to the friends in my life.  In the episode today I speak about what action I took to express gratitude and how it may help us in our lives of friendship.  I know during my recovery if it was not for my friends I would be in a worse place.

  • Jesus was killed by a crowd because of #fakenews
God wins either way, and He wants us to trust Him despite how the crowd wants to rationalize poor behavior.
#principleoftheday: Jesus was killed by a crowd because of #fakenews.
Will you follow the #thoughtoftheday over the #Catholic #principles that made #Jesus known throughout the world & all time as a king who served all, saving people from injustice by confronting those perpetrating it in love as they sought to retain power through intimidation & deceit?
Jesus lives & reins as king of all today, saving souls through actions he took 2000 years ago in #leadership by example (in word & deed, #faithandworks) in love & by truth, offering freedom from enslavement to fear & false beliefs perpetrated by the imperfect judgment of men whom hid truth in malice & deceit to gain power over men for earthly reward, rather than fear God in care for all.
Jesus set the prisoners free, by empathizing that even his enemies were merely trapped by false beliefs, which entered into the world by actions stemming from them. The first battlefield is the mind, then the world around. Jesus conquered both in #grace.

We had some technical glitches over the course of this interview so my apologies for the hiccups here and there.

  • Catholic Answers Live - Why Are You Pro Choice? Part 2
Trent Horn asks listeners, “Why are you pro-choice?”
    Questions Covered:
    04:23 - I am pro-choice in cases of rape.
    17:10 - I am not pro-abortion, but I am not pro-life. I have too many questions.
28:29 - I am in favor of keeping abortion legal.
35:34 - Isn’t it better to abort a child in the womb before they can have a bad, abusive life?
41:40 - I am pro-choice because I am 20 and I had a child at 13. Having lived that life, I wouldn’t put that on anyone. I’d never want anyone to have to go through that. If a mother doesn’t want her child, she won’t love and nourish it like it needs.

Trent Horn asks listeners, “Why are you pro-choice?”
    Questions Covered:
07:55 - I don’t think that life begins at conception and I think Thomas Aquinas agrees with me.
29:21 - I can’t be pro-life because of back-alley abortions. Also, there are some cases where choosing death is appropriate.
45:12 - I am pro-choice because bodily autonomy supersedes right to life.

  • The Storytellers - Episode 024: Joel Stepanek
Joel Stepanek grew up believing that humility required shunning success, never accepting praise, and embracing a crummy life so that God would reward him in heaven. Then he became successful—at being a missionary. On a quest to find balance, Stepanek discovered powerful wisdom hidden within a nineteenth-century prayer that radically changed his life: the Litany of Humility. He shows you what he has learned about true Christian humility and how to right-size your expectations for living this crucial virtue.
As Stepanek, director of resource development at Life Teen, began to study and pray with the Litany of Humility, he discovered a pattern for spiritual growth that now anchors the way he lives. In Chasing Humility, he helps you explore eight essential aspects of humility in the life of a Christian: authenticity, confidence, gratitude, love, praise, empowerment, mentoring, and breaking barriers.
In addition to humorous and engaging stories and theological reflections, each chapter gives you practical exercises for spiritual growth such as:

    creating an authenticity diagram to explore how you see yourself, how you think God sees you, and how you believe others do;
learning to keep a gratitude journal; and
developing habits of speech that acknowledge and praise others for successes, rather than remaining focused on your own accomplishments.
