Thanks for listening as Pastor Jeremy shares Sunday in Glendive.
Different reasons to be water baptized:
1. Obedience- 1 John 2:6 He who says he abides in
Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked
a. Matt 28 make disciples and baptize them
2. Public Declaration-Water baptism doesn’t obtain
salvation, it announces salvation.
3. Personal Experience-You own personal
commitment to God, maybe you walked away or
haven’t lived for God like you should. Water
baptism can be a good time to hit the reset
button, start fresh, and move forward.
4. Identifying w/ Christ through water baptism
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we
continue in sin that grace may abound?
Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin
live any longer in it? Or do you not know
that as many of us as were baptized into
Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Therefore we were buried with Him through
baptism into death, that just as Christ was
raised from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life. ....... Verse 11 Likewise you
also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to
sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord
2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation; old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new.
Eph. & Col. talk of putting off the old man
which is corrupt and putting on the new
man, full of life!
Sin, shame, guilt, condemnation, not
being enough, broken, abused, used,
damaged, all these things float
downstream.
Freedom, renewed, life, more than a
conqueror, useful, cleansed,
strengthened w/ mighty power, a living
sacrifice, acceptable, pleasing,
purposed, a child of the living God!!
This is who we are and live to be when
we come up out of those waters.
Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it
is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live
by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave Himself for me.
